Great find ...

*They had an pretty amzing genesis forming as the pair were
viewing a solar eclipse in India together & got inspired...that'll work ! ;)
from Wikipedia
(been around some 14yrs )
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shpongle

Shpongle is a downtempo/ambient psychedelic trance (or psybient) project from the United Kingdom. The core members are Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one third of The Infinity Project), but they often collaborate with other artists. Their sound has sampled Eastern ethnic instruments and Western contemporary synthesizer-based psychedelic music. Posford is responsible for the synth and studio work while Raja Ram contributes with flute arrangements.

The project was formed in 1996 after the pair viewed a solar eclipse in India. The two went into the studio and attempted to duplicate the experience in sonic form, and the result was a 20-minute track, "...And the Day Turned to Night," which was featured on Shpongle's first album "Are You Shpongled?" and the Twisted label compilation Eclipse - A Journey Of Permanence & Impermanence.

Shpongle is not a dictionary-recognized word; in an interview taking place in Russia, Raja Ram stated that Shpongle is an umbrella term for feeling positive and euphoric emotions.[1]

But sometimes the pure electronica does get overwhelming at times if
completely reliant on techno generated sound & samples ...and a bit edgey
on the brain cells at times ...
(unless properly chemically charged, lol)

Yea 100% synthetic sound doesn't do much for the Soul but you say (unless properly chemically charged, lol)

Don't you find the more charged you are the more Sensetive you get?

I don't like trippin at musical events coz if the music iz crap or i'm not Feelin da Vibe i will leave and it's kinda anti social.

It would be hard not to have a go at a Shpongle show though:blowbubbles:

Nice 1 Madre & Bird. Shpongle got it goin on

Had ta check the date of the Eclipse when they were Inspired. They were there in 96 in 95 anutha total Solar Eclipse passed, I went to a party in an abandoned village in the Indian desert. The place was like a ghost town abandoned not enough water ta grow anything any more so everybody left years ago.

Some of the Goa crew organized a party there that went on for a few Daze. That Eclipse Touched me Very Deep I always feel connected to the Universe when Trippin but that was Profound I walked far away from all the people found a spot and spent a few hrs there, Quality Time...

Luv the world they created

Listening to that 3rd selection by Shpongle & these guys are really batting 1000%
with me , holy sacred cows why haven't i heard them ever before ??
(Thanks Bird great find !)

And wow ....

great to know ya InJoy, thanks for that insight into your
experience ...maybe not always a perfect life
but u were there ?

In India during that time ?

lovely man ...cool, & very very nice !

A traveler & adventurererer! spirit....did u fall in love there too?

(besides with the entire universe, lol)

;)

PS: Great movie often overlooked is ---> "Holy Smoke" ...a must see with Kate Winslet & Harvey Keitel ...a sleeping beauty of a movie , you being in India will certainly love . Watch if u haven't seen already & listen towards the end the most exquisite song by Annie Lennox finishes it so incredibly beautifully . LOve , faith, forgiveness human bondage to our own follies ...hysterically seeking nirvanna & normallacy which neither exist .... find in the end we can all settle down & just be friends .

Its over all so quickly anyways ....evanescent we are but for a brief time
capable of expressing such beauty each to each. Done rightly , guess it could be called "joy"....or "zen"...or just "washing our underwear" ! :biglaugh:

Here found her, a " Diva in a Trance" ...Annie Lennox singing "Primitive" from the most tender scene have experienced in almost any movie ...was instantly moved to tears how helpless we become confronted by the greatness of love, life,
our tiny vast lost selves .
Holy Smoke

(she should have let Lorin collaborate with her , that would hav been something ))

"Primitive" by Annie lennox

Sweetheart
The sun has set
All red and primitive above our heads
Blood stained on an ageless sky
Wipe your tears and let the salt stains dry
Let them all run dry
All run dry...

Sweetheart
Take me to bed
That's where all our prayers are said
Whispered silent in the night
That's how all our dreams take flight
Let them all go by
All go by...

For time will catch us in both hands
And blow us away like grains of sand
Ashes to ashes rust to dust
This is what becomes of us ....(pure beauty)
http://www.ashesandsnow.org/<----u really want to visit this site & explore! :)

Sweetheart
Send me to sleep
Pray to God our hopes to keep
Take our fears and make us strong
Lead us to where we belong
And let it all go by
All go by...

Id have to agree on this...

Shpongle does it for me, because its SHPONGLE.

Raja Ram being live looped in Ableton playin all sortss of crazy instruments....

Whereas most other Trance/Psy/Goa/House/Electro simply loop extreeeemely simple and small loops for WAY too long.

Sorry, but I have fuckin ADD, and can't pay attention to music like that. ESP. on any form of PSYCHEDELIC....(L, Psilocybin, whateva...)

I don't take pressed pills anymore so that automatically excludes "Ecstacy."

Molly however, is a different story ;) Still can't get down to anything that doesn't have a half-step Afrikaan riddim however...
4 to the floor / 1/4 / 2/4 timings.....YAAAAAWN. Shit puts me to SLEEP.

I love the BASS, and everything else follows suit.

Dub: A reggae (or any) rhythm that has been stripped down with heavy emphasis oh the DRUMS and BASSSSS, infusing various effects to actually produce a new almost organic sound.

Man, I went to a 2 day, four stage festival here in Texas last September, the lineup was amazing, and had some really good bass names in there. Bassnectar, Dieselboy, Rusko, even Cudi was there. That's not even mentioning the trance and house DJs. Saw Excision a few weeks before that.
Here's a compilation - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyNII806qxQ
