Hey wtfn, how are things coming along with your new run? Last harvest looked pretty nice eh!
Keep it up.

Flipped the new run into flower on Aug 2. Vertical walls all around. I have a bunch of photos on my camera, just need the motivation to upload them.

Found a spider mite infestation yesterday. Had some neem and doktor doom on hand so I used both of those. Probably gonna go with hot shot no pest strips and neem in the pump sprayer for the next few weeks. I'm headed to CO next week to do some backpacking and to pick up some new genetics. I'll have a close friend doing the spraying while I'm gone. Hopefully I can keep these little fuckers from spreading to my new genetics. Can't postpone the trip at this point.

Dude.

Just get some predator mites and set them loose. They'll do all the work for you without having to spray and use carcinogenic pest strips. Maintain the right environment and they'll be around to stay to keep up your defense. I think this would also save you money in the long run instead of buying those expensive foggers and what not. :2cents:

Dealing with same problem, going to take the predatory mite route myself. I picked up some Mega Wash, which is this charged water or something. Seems to work well, spraying the plants with the MW a mans then getting the predatory mites.

Good luck with battling those mites. Wish I was in the states and could just drive over to CO and grab some genetics. Let me know what you pickup.

$7 for the no-pest strip at home depot and $20 for a bottle of SM-90 isn't bad. When I get back from my trip I'm going to take the strip out and put some predatory mites in, but I wanted to be sure that I'm actaully rid of them before I made the swap.
I usually neem once or twice before flower but I forgot to do it for this crop. The last time I forgot to neem (a few years ago in cali) I had this same problem. Maintenance is something I've always forced myself to learn the hard way, but I get there eventually.

I think your best bet is to introduce the predator mites after spraying. They'll run through and clean up any remaining living spider mites. Once they do their work I recommend spraying again a few times for any eggs which may survive the attack.

When are you leaving again whythefnot? I wouldn't spray after introducing the predator mites because you will kill them too. I would instead focus on making the environment hospitable for the predators so they can continue to do their work and want to stick around.

Sounds like you made your mind up though. Have a good trip man

I sprayed before the trip and I've been doing neem and SM-90 every 3 days since. I'm gonna stop that protocol and switch to predator mites as soon as they arrive.

While I was in CO I picked up 5 new genetic lines from a good friend ...

Gorilla Glue #4
Southwest Grape Stomper x Narcoberry
CBD Durango OG
Goji OG (sativa/pine sol pheno)
Agent Orange #2 (indica pheno)

He also showered me with seeds, so there should be some interesting things happening over the next few years.

This crop is doing phenomenally. My vertical trellis is working like a champ. Gonna be a big harvest. Gonna try to process the last few months of pics tonight and this weekend and see if I can get them uploaded.

Nice new lineup. I'd be interested in seeing what that Agent Orange # 2 grows like. I just got some predator mites today myself and will be releasing them soon.

This round I'm going light on the compost teas (I just used my first one yesterday), heavier on the EM-1, and during flower every few weeks I'm doing a heavy dose of molasses + epsom salts for flavor. I used hi-cal lime to make this soil so they're gonna be mag def without the salts. That way I get the extra sulfur from both the epsom salts and the hi-cal lime for making terps. Not sure if anyone has tried this but it seems to be working well enough to me.
I'll let everyone know how it pans out. Last round had a good, clean, pleasant flavor, but it wasn't exactly the knockout OG flavor that I was after, despite using Terpinator throughout flower (it came highly recommended, although I suspect it works better on piney types, and I'll use the rest of the bottle on the pine sole goji once she's ready). I thought my first round even had better flavor than my second one, despite the fact that bud formation, plant health and yield was so much nicer on the second. So this is what I'm going with. I'll post my findings after I smoke it for a few.

The spider mites are back again, even after introducing predator mites. They're not exactly taking over, but they're just getting to the point that they're starting to form webs on a few of the colas. Today makes 8 weeks so I'm going to just keep on trucking and pull them in the next few days before it gets bad. The crop looks incredible. I'm such a lazy ass for not posting these photos but I'm storing them up. Nailed the vertical thing this time, yield should be great.

It's been almost 6 months since I've updated this thread, but I'm coming back swingin'!
