What's up, buddy? Glad a few folks seem to be sticking around. I'll be here posting pics to review my progress down the road...

I'm not terribly worried about the male, or the herm balls on MPK. I just don't like that she's dropped a couple now since she hasn't been stressed much this round. If the smoke ain't 5-star, I'll drop her, we shall see soon enough.

I'm stoked to rub some of that diesel BO Sowahh male funk all over a select few branches in the bed. Might just give some a run next round if successful.

I turned off all the fans and made sure there was zero air movement, then dusted one branch on all of the girls this morning just before lights-out with some pollen from the Sowahh male. I also covered each with a plastic baggie and taped it off. Is it still done that way? Used to be...I've done it like that in years past with success. Usually keep them on for 24-48 hours, if I recall correctly. Helps to keep the pollen from flying around, and the increased humidity in the bag helps the pollen stick to the hairs. Something like that.

I also dusted one more branch on MPK with her own hermie pollen. The seed in the previous pics of her would be an S1, if viable, but I don't think I have any more original seeds so I'd like to see if I can get a few S1s out of her and check out the genetics a little further. The backup clone I took from her just before flowering this round didn't make it, and I don't know if a re-veg will be successful since she'll be harvested well before the other girls and remain under 12/12 light cycle until everyone's finished. At the end of the day, I'm not sweatin' it... plenty of excellent genetics to go through over here, including some CSI T-1000 Fallen Soldiers that will surely fall in the purple spectrum I was seeking with the Mendocino Purple Kush. And if this Sowahh pollen takes hold, I'll be itching to germ some of those beans right away, too.

More pics from yesterday, Day 37...

Mendocino Purple Kush ripening at a break-neck pace. About 75% of her ​stigmata have turned amber with sparse new pistils forming. Another relatively low yield, but she smells nice and should give a good couch lock effect when I want it. Probably won't even attempt to re-veg her after this round.

I think the 91 S1 is the loudest smelling, but it's hard to tell...everyone except MPK are all throwing off some serious funk. Even lil ol' Chem D S1 has got her corner of the bed stinking like a dirty armpit lol

Welp, didn't quite make it as far as last round. Yesterday was day 40 and Chem 91 x TK has lost her smell over the last couple of days, only to be replaced by the smell of bud rot. Every single top that I squeezed on her.

I've kept the temp and humidity at, what I thought were, good levels. Here's the chart from the start of flowering until now.

Must be a contaminant in/around the environment, then.

I think I smelled a hint of it in Chem 91 S1 and Sowahh, too. I thought about just chopping those 3 and try to salvage what I could from Chem D S1 and MPK, but my enthusiasm has taken a nosedive here, and those two combined when finished MIGHT give me a couple ounces total. I'm good.

I chopped 2 tops from MPK and one from Chem 91 x TK to let her dry out and confirm what I already know.

Whenever this crap is done, I'll dig up the whole bed and remove the fabric bed to inspect for cleaning or possible replacement. I'll bleach all the walls, floors, ceiling inside and out of the room. Also gives me a chance to do some more finishing of the build, which I never completed in the first place.

Smokey that sucks . I shut down couple summers back because of a p.m. monkey on my back so I know how u feel.

Best tip I got was use a couple cheap box fans with 20 x 20 high end furnace filters taped to the backs. The purple 3m ones will filter the air to damn near hepa standards . Catches all the mold mildew yeast spores n stuff . These help in and around the grow.

I wanted to say something when the mushrooms came up. They wont really fruit unless they are like 90-95% humidity .

I always keep one of those fans blowing across the top of soil more for gnats but I'm sure it helps lower humidity under the canopy thus helping keep the invisible nasties in check.

Thanks for the tips and kind words @mattbho... The air intakes are right at the top of the bed, about knee height, and they create a pretty good lateral draft across the soil. But I should definitely beef it up, and maybe get a slight breeze pointed up at the underside of the canopy. I'll definitely look into the 3M purple filters to help with filtration, good tip!

I found the root cause of the problem, too. That bubble bag washing machine, sitting right in front of one of the air intakes of the main room, had a mesh bag of forgotten leaf material in the bottom of it from the first round in this room. I've removed the problem, but still plan to do a thorough scrubbing of the entire room, top to bottom. Not sure if I still want/need to move all the soil to get at the underside of the bed. I could maybe use a long scrub brush or something to get under there without completely wrecking the soil ecosystem growing for almost a year now. I don't know...

So far I've harvested all the tops from MPK and one branch from Chem D S1, but I'm just not sure if either are affected. Some of the buds smell questionable, but the taste of the flower is decent and the rosin I pressed from MPK is pretty good. The rosin goes from virtually clear (due to 6wk harvest) to completely cloudy, dry, and crumbly within 24 hours after pressing. And even though it tastes good, there's a very very slight burning in the back of my throat and/or nostrils after a hit. I just don't trust it. So I'm going to trash it.

I've got a handful of gigantic-looking MPK x Sowahh seeds on the impregnated branch, and at least one or two swollen bracts containing Chem D S1 x Sowahh beans on her pollinated branch. I'll let them finish, even though I think they both might have the -itis, since I'd like to run both of those crosses someday. And I found a gigantic MPK S1 seed on a heavily hermed branch which I think* (hope) might be viable, which is good because I confirmed that I don't have any more of the original MPK seeds.

Here's the lineup for next round, I'll start germinating pretty soon since I'd like to flip to 12s on the 4th of July (just under 8 weeks away).

Can't find anything on who made the Chem Mafia, which is Compound Genetic's Mafia Funeral (The Menthol x Garlic Grove 55) x South Fork's Cherry Chem (Cherry Pie x Chem Dawg bx3). But it sounds pretty good on paper, so why not? I plan to start multiple seeds of each of the regs and hope to find one or two good females for me to choose from each.

Damn bubble bags!! My machine is just in the way. What a waste of cash. I curse it weekly and only use it yearly.

So glad u aren't tossing in the towel.

I use method 1 regularly as part of my ipm its basically plant wash made from essential oils . Im sure there's cheaper alternatives. I don't remember reading if u used anything in veg. but I swear it helps the plants build up a defense for when they bloom . Just don't use in the flower room peppermint oil is strong and makes menthol like buds ..

Anywho, the show must go on! I got Chem D S1 trying to finish with a few Sowahh male beans in her, she's about 8.5wks flower now. Beans have been baking 3.5wks. Still don't know if I smell anything wrong with her. She got some funk, fer sure, but need to sample it to know if it's gone bad like all the others. Took this branch a couple days ago...

Started soaking beans for the next round this afternoon. DVP God Bud didn't germ, tried a bunch of different methods with 6 different seeds, not a thing happening there. Still got 4 if I get bored someday. Well, that will be replaced by Girl's Best Friend (GSC x Chem '91) in the lineup, now.

I'm doing 1 each of the fems: Lemon Party S1, Girl's Best Friend, and Purple Punch.

I'm starting 3 of the Chem Mafia regs, and 4 of the Chem del la Chem F2s to account for males.

Room cleaning, painting, etc... will wait until Chem D S1 is finished, another 1.5-2.5wks. I plan to start flowering the new ones on or before July 4th, just over 6 weeks from today. Keeping them small this time and just trying to get a solid harvest under my belt here. Wish me luck!

Day 1

Three of the Chem del la Chem have popped up, and one of each of the rest. Had a few duds in the Chem Mafia aka "Cherry" Mafia pack, only 1 above soil after trying 5 seeds. Still got 2 seeds left but won't try them this time.
Had to razor a few casings, but everyone seems to be adjusting to life outside the shell.



Edit: looks like a 2nd Chem Mafia is coming up...

Day 8

I put the 65w HLG over them a couple days ago, still under the dome.

I've got a 3rd Chem Mafia trying ever-so-slowly to poke it's head above ground...I germinated it NINE days ago. Don't think I've ever seen a seed start so slowly.

...and just like that, it's off to the races!

So, this late-sprouting Chem Mafia was one-of-two that I tried to germ 24 hours after the first batch of three seeds, which only produced one tap root. The first seed from the second attempt cracked open after 24 hours, but no tap. I put it in dirt and it came up a few days later. The second one, though, did not crack open so I chucked it in a 5-gal bucket with some water in the bottom of it. I'd look at it every day or two, and after a week in there I saw a healthy-looking tap root sticking out! In the dirt it goes.

Day 14

Noticing some light sensitivity on two of three Chem del la Chem F2s, just like the Chem D S1 from last round. Raised the lights up pretty far, let's see if that helps.

I tested the early nug a few days after that post, and it definitely had whatever badness the other girls did. Not surprising after finding the source right under my nose, honestly. I pulled the Sowahh beans out of her shortly thereafter, got a handful which may be viable.

She had a good b.o.-type funk goin' on, and I think paired with the similar nose I was getting on the Sowahh male, those beans could put out something stanky. Just need some vigor and at least a reduction in the light-sensitivity in the progeny. I also have more of the Chem D S1s. I'll think about germing all of them next round, and seeing if any will give me those attributes.

I'm painting the room now, plants will go in a few days from now and let them root for 2 weeks, then flip. Pic from a couple of days ago...
