well, we're about 1/7 of the way thru the season and my mets have the best record in the nl. only the bosox have a better record.
the best part of the early season has to be the cellar dwellar yankees!
it's funny how you don't hear from yankee fans when the play poor.
but what a year a-rod is having!
Personally I could never be a fan of an american leagu team. Designated hitters eliminate a ton of strategy of the game. I'm a huge cubs fan. What people who pick on cubs fans because they lose all the time don't undertsand is that they don't spend shit on payroll and still manage to sell out every game. From a business standpoint they're the most successful team bar none. Kansas city has sort of the same thing going on. For every dollar they spend they bring in more than a team like atlanta that just spends a lot on players and many of their fans will only be fans as long as they're winning. Cubs fans are the type of people who like rooting for the underdog.
My favorite team of all time was the 86 mets. Dwight Gooden, Daryl Strawberry, Mookie Wilson and Gary Carter. A great team. Its too bad Gooden and Strawberry will prob never make it to the hall of fame. They were both so talented and cocaine really fucked them both up bad. Mookie Wilson was just addicted to sunflower seeds. When you'd look at where he stood in the outfield you'd see a huge pile of sunflower seed shells scattere all over. Sometimes thered be a trail from where the fell out of his pocket when running to catch a fly ball.
hey Z,
don't forget the likes of keith hernandez, ron darling, howard johson, jesse orosco, tim tueffel and of course, davey johnson, the best manager to ever grace the mets.
