Bartender Beaten After Refusing To Serve Alcohol To Cop

Oh, and if that tape hadn't been running - what story do you think the cop would have told?

Interesting.

So, would all this vehemence be present if it weren't a cop?

Everyone seems very eager to support the 'anti cop' idea, but who gives a shit if it was a cop? The guy was a violent drunk, period. If he was an just an 'average joe', say a construction worker, would the sentiment be so violent? So he was a cop, big fuckin' deal.

Aren't you guys villainizing cops, when it should be the actions that are the focus? I don't give a flying fuck if this guy was the greatest activist known to MJ, he still should have caught a bottle or fist upside his giant noggin, and served 5 years while he recuperated.

It doesn't matter the profession, what matters is the action. If your main objection is that this guy is a cop, you really need to examine your priorities.

In defense of the bystanders (sorta)...

This guy is a cop, and sure as shit those guys knew it - anybody who gets involved w/ a cop is probably gonna find he's a marked man. Cops - good or bad - tend to protect their own. Imagine being a "marked" man in Chicago? No thanks.

The thin blue line has a way of tightening around civilians nuts...

Does this make it right? No...

Do I understand why some mighta had 2nd thoughts? Yup...

Would I have helped? I've jumped into less...

I agree with you on Cops sticking together. However I do think most cops are at least moderately decent...or almost to a level of decency. Shown that video I don't think they'd hold it against you, what kind of person could? Maybe I'm personifying police officers too much...I just like to think some of them are human.

im not defending this cop in ANY way, but cops do more good than bad.. its just those bad apples.. and also most cops need to lighten up on all the bullshit laws out there

I can only imagine the nightmarish shit this guy was getting away with on the 9-to-5.

You assume he does this on a regular basis, that this is his MO.

Good God, I pray I'm never judged solely on the actions I've made when drunk.

His 9-5 isn't the issue here. He could be stacking bricks 9-5, and the ass muncher would still deserve a good beating and prison.

Hell, he was probably better behaved on his 9-5, because his actions were recorded on the dash cam.

And I call bullshit on the 'Thin Blue Line' mentality, saying they would have defended/justified/covered this guys actions. My ass. They'd have come down on him like a ton of bricks for making the rest of them look bad. And you seem to be ignoring the fact that he was, indeed, brought up on charges. Not bullshit charges either, but Agg Assault.

Same as I would would turn in a guy lifting CC #s from my line of work. Quit focusing on his job, and focus on the piece of shit human being he was. Every line of work has them, and they all deserve the fate they choose.

The best thing about cops is that they dont work 24/7 and that they bleed like every other man or woman..

When I was once in Amsterdamn I had the experience of smoking an "american style" joint in public with a police officer nearby. It was a beautiful day indeed. I hope to make it back someday soon. =)

lol

And I call bullshit on your calling bullshit...

There is a cop here in the city where I live - it's in the news, so don't call BS.

He is up on sexual harassment charges against "fellow" officers, plus the assorted beatings of civilians, threatening, etc. The chief o' popos "forgot" to file the appropriate paperwork on time to have this rogue dealt with, and now he is washed clean. Full pay suspension - taught him a lesson, eh?

Think the chief woulda held back on your paperwork, NT?

Come to where I live - watch the local police association let out at closing time. Watch them stumble across the street to their cars - they park for FREE at the lot across the street. See if a marked cruiser EVER drives by - EVER. Doesn't happen - know why? Cause they are cops, pure and simple.

Do I hate cops? Nope - one of my dearest friends in the world is a detective (I've mentioned him before). Do I have a low tolerance for people who put themselves in a position to judge or enforce the laws - then break those rules / laws? Damn right. If there had been no tape - there would have been no charges.

OK - so call bullshit on the thin blue line. Won't keep me up at nite... And denying something doesn't make it go away - ask Ernst Zundel...

Back when Canada had a brief window of legal weed - really we did - I smoked joints out in front of the central cop shoppe, and walked over to 2 uniformed cops w/ a Jay in my hand, and thanked them for being cool about it. :joint:

The woman cop was cool, she smiled and chuckled - the guy looked like he wanted to split my head open w/ his nitestick... :bashhead:

It was my birthday too, that day - what an awesome present... :woohoo:

Any cop lurking on this site needs to take a good, long look at the video and tell me vile drunkards like that are less of a societal menace than a lethargic stoner.

That, and we need Genki's opinion of proper punishment for him.

Cop or not that's fucked up.. I mean.. that's Johnny Cash in the background and I like that song.. it's not a fighting song..

All I can say is she's lucky he was drunk.. Half, if not more, of those shots missed.

Of course there are always a few bad apples, I was making more of a general statement. And the Thin Blue Line isn't bullshit, I agree completely. But in this case, I don't see it applying - who'd want to stand next to this assmunch?

Sorry for the confusion! I shouldn't have mixed generalized and incident specific statements :pointlaug

I have known a few good 'ol boys to throw down when Johnny starts singing.

I would not have given two shits if that man was a cop or not, a person in need of assistance is a person in need. I'll jump into the fight to potentially save someone's life almost regardless of the circumstances. Unless of course, it is completely futile. If I saw a man getting stomped on by 10 Cholos, it would be dumb to jump in and help. But a woman getting beat by a man, a drunk man, deserves help. He was not wearing a uniform, so I probably would not have known his occupation. It does not matter anyway. He was assaulting her, and should have been dealt with. In truth, I would not have smashed a bottle over his head. I would have been so caught up in saving a life, I would probably take another. Or at least drive my knife into his spine.

I have known about 2 real asshole cops, but about 100 great ones.

Anyone see that video (10 years old maybe) of a cop that pulls a man out of a car for, DUI or something, and the fool starts beating the shit out of the cop? Caught on dashboard cam, and no one is helping for awhile. Finally some dude runs up and helps. That guy was gonna murder that cop, in broad daylight, in front of witnesses. I wish I could see some of this go down, I would love to have an excuse to break a jaw.
