What's new

Bangi Haze

The one that I grew indoors was not harvested especially early. Some of the top buds still had a spattering of white pistils, but almost all had died on the lower buds. It was energetic without being racy, and still had the euphoria that made me feel really good. Anti depressant weed for me. It also affected my balance and, interestingly, made my hearing more sensitive. I call it ear weed.

Sounds like we got plants with pretty similar effects. I really liked the wobbly, floaty feeling. I think you said you pulled your indoor plant at about 8-9 weeks? Mine is still in the midst of a pistil-pushing phase, and I'm probably not gonna touch it until roughly that time frame.

If the raciness backs off a bit, then it will definitely be amazing "anti-depressant" cannabis, as you call it. A lot better than those garbage (for me) SSRI/SNRI drugs.

I'm interested to see the results of your outdoor Bangi harvest. Those are some beautiful plants. A nice smoke report is much desired by us all, I think. :dance013:

Pulled it down at about 54 days or so, just after the flowers seemed to finish filling out. A wet test seemed to turn up positive results. It's similar to my previous description with a less racy and anxious come-on. Very up, cerebral, and euphoric effect that doesn't disrupt your ability to function. If one is in a good state of mind, in a positive atmosphere, and/or doing something that is engaging, then it's very easy to avoid anxiety.

I would say the potency is pretty solid, but it's not overpowering, even for someone with a low tolerance. It's not about knocking you down; it's about keeping you going. One of the nicest things is that there is no "burn-out" at the end. Even after the primary effects wear off, a sort of positive afterglow seems to remain. "Anti-depressant cannabis".

It's not dried enough to know precise amounts, but the yield seems medium/average. Delicious, complex, and pungent smells abound: sweet, anise/candy, earth, machine oil, some subtle but sharp citrus/pine notes. Not completely dried, as I said, but the taste has an earthy carrot component that is really nice.

This is the only phenotype I have experienced, but it seems to be a great strain that does what it proclaims to do. Definitely would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice "sativa" effect in a plant that can be grown in a very short period.

Thank you all for your feedback and congrats on your Bangi Haze harvests!

I'm glad you are enjoying with the last Bangi Haze std release, we are working at the moment on a new reproduction/selection using 5 different lines from different years.

ThaiBliss, looks like you harvested yours in the right moment. I also don't like to overmature Bangi Haze, i like to harvest her slighty early in a peak of strong aroma.
Wish you enjoy the fruit of your labour, i fully support your quest on that elusive, finest sativa effects!

Dr.King, Bangi Haze doesn't stretch/develop much in early flowering, i recommend to veg BH plants/clones a little bit longer to get stronger and more mature structures that will produce bigger yields later.

wingdings nice plant! Looks fatty and well developed. How was the harvest at the end?

Undomesticated, you really got the vibe of the strain! Your report sounds simply yummy!

Enjoy! :)

I think dubi means the latest generation of bangi.
Bountiful aromatic flowers that smoke like a dream, thanks dubi, filled my jars and then some.

Hello fellow enthusiasts! First, I want to pass on kudos to all the folks willing to share their pics and grow experience with Bangi Haze! Second, thanks to Dubi and Ace for providing this enticing strain!

A couple of years ago when I was looking for an African strain to try I stumbled on this thread and was intrigued by the descriptions of BH. Unfortunately, when I tried to order some the seed bank was out so settled on an Early Durban instead. I was looking primarily for a reasonably fast finisher that contained the Anise scent/taste profile but was very disappointed after running it (did not match the breeder's description at all).

So, I have finally got to growing the BH strain. Off to a good start with 5-5 beans germinating and now in early veg.

I re-read the thread from top to bottom again this morning and think I have pulled out most of the critical details based on the community experience, so thanks again for that.

A couple of pointed questions I do have,

1. Have you found BH to be a light, medium or heavy feeder?
2. Dubi, I may have missed it, but you mention in a post that you had sent BH out for analysis and that you would be posting the results: did you post them in the thread or elsewhere? If not, would you mind posting the results in this thread?

Thanks in advance - I will post pics when I get into flower, sooner if anyone wants to see them in veg.

I find my BH pheno to be a light feeder (heavy N averse) in veg/early flower, and then, once it gets going, it likes a little boost to push out those flowers and keep its health up. Could just be me or my setup.

Others have described it as a generally normal or not picky feeder, from what I have heard.

Welcome yankeegreen,

Bangi Haze is a light-moderate feeder, especially with N as Undomesticated pointed out.

BH it's a high TCH / low CBD strain. We are the moment very busy with seed production, we are planning for the second half of 2015 a sinsemilla round of all our parental plants, to analyse them for cannabinoid and terpene ratios.

Thanks for the good vibes.

I grow in a valley that gets foggy after big rains. This year we got two different early rainy periods before harvest. I heard lots of complaints and early harvests from other local growers. These plants stood up pretty well, especially since the earliest rain, a violent thunderstorm, flattened my plants leaving many branches on the ground or severely bent over. I only found one spot of mold on one bud so far. It was in a spot where a huge bud was laying against another huge bud. My bad.

I think as far as mold goes, local conditions vary widely, and you will need to test under your conditions. What I can recommend is that these plants produce a high quality effect that is worth testing in your environment.

Hey TB, is that a seed in your pic?

I took down two Bangi's this weekend, after only 10 weeks of 11/13. They have nice fat frosty buds. I am lucky to have another pheno, with much more airy buds that will need another 2-3 weeks.

Lucky bastard! ;)

I also notice you kept the bigger leaves on while drying. Laziness or do you expect better results from that?

Ha! To be honest, laziness. Too much work at one time.

However, I do notice that the cure is quicker/better with some stem left on. I don't know why, perhaps as simple as the air pockets in the pile are bigger. It may be the leaves also, but I have never done a good test on that. Again, lazy.

There's a whole thread on Wet Trimming vs Dry Trimming here. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=255527
Good read.

But the consensus is "leave all the leaves on a plant at chop." Then "Dry Trim". This has the effect of slowing down the initial drying. Giving a smoother smoke and better smell. You also don't have to cure as long. The exception is if you live with high humidity. In that case "Wet Trim" is fine because the plants will dry slower anyway and leaving the leaves on might cause the plant to dry to slowly and cause mold. Wet Trim is also recommended if you harvest hundreds of plants at a time because that many hanging plants can cause near 100% humidity.

If you read the thread you'll see there is no hard rule. You have to work in your own environment. But it's generally agreed leaving all leaves on at the chop will cause a slower drying which will in turn produce a better smell.
