Bangi Gloria -> my breeding with Bangi for outdoor action in Rhineland

I think it will be better for my documentation of my work to do it on the forum, so here I am.

The story starts with the single Bangi Haze that sprouted and wasn't a runt from my two packs I got from ACE via Seedbay. Dubi sent me two packs of NepJam as consolation, but I have kept the BH direction.

I've had my Bangi indoors first and was able to make clones for the outdoor season. Same winter I got some BH x Purpurea Ticinensis seeds bred by Esben. One of the 3 BHPT females was reversed with STS to pollinate my BH clones. She was a big plant with large leaves, basically a purple version of Esben mother. Smell was hashy, sweet purple, not as good as her sister that was phenomenal pure sweet melon, but horribly spindly and leafy (spot was shit though, too much shade).
That year I also had some ManitobaMedicine x GuerillaGold and they were chosen for their very early finish and nice hard buds. They proved strong, but not good. Would wreak me and leave with a hangover.

The following year both crosses were put to a test.
MMGGxBHPT turned out fairly diverse. One was shit, no resin, spindly flowers. One was super early, done in the last days of August. The rest were done second half Sept with beautiful resin cover. One with massive yield, that I shall call Gloria, was chosen along the fast one for STS treatment.
A selection of BHxBHPT received the pollen. Mostly from Gloria, but B1 and B2 got the mix of both.

This year I planted a bunch of the resulting seeds, 22 for selection and breeding.

What I want to get from this medley of Bangi Haze, Guerilla Gold and Purpurea Ticinensis are columnar style plants that are done by end of Sept, covered in sticky resin and strong good smell. Hardy outdoor plants with strong branches and resistant to botrytis.
The Bangi Haze strong electric high that served me so well the last few years is the goal.

I'd like to get the sweet melon smell, but in this selection only the heavy and thick sweet thing going on. I find it extremely difficult to describe smells, so suffice to say that it's instantly recognizable to me and I like it. Max intensity. + for that.

Only one has a different smell. More green and sour and without the deep note so defining for her sisters. E4 we shall call her. Short plants with massive buds. The only Gloria dominant expression.

The other ones can be separated into two categories:
The spears - more upwards, with a pronounced, long main bud.
The big ones - more lateral branching, fist-like buds.

Here is my garden.

Bangi Gloria C4 and E5, the earliest one.

Puffing on the Congo as I type and listen to Masala Soundsystem.

From what I've seen so far I think I can corroborate dubis words on the Bangi Haze being dominant in crosses.

It's been a pleasure to grow and smoke her and her offspring.

Welcome Barbanegra

Sounds like a very interesting breeding project! In fact, Bangi Haze, Nepalese Jam and Pakistan Chitral Kush would be our best strains to cross with this famous canadian, swiss, and danish genetics and start an early flowering outdoor breeding project for cold climates.

I think the Bangi haze stock you started with was a bit old cos the last bangi haze release was around 2008. Hopefully fresh bangi haze stock will be available around end of the year.

Im a bit familiar with the Guerrilla Gold line, it' was quite variable but there were some early winner phenos to be found: maturing mid september with a small size, great yield, strong aroma and pleasant high.

I think the goal of the Bangi Haze-Guerrilla Gold-Manitoba-Purpurea ticinensis cross would be to find colorful early flowering plants that resist cold temps, rain but still producing good yield and the electric bangi haze effect.

I think you are playing with enough good numbers to find interesting things ... wish you good luck and good eye in your selections! Please, keep us updated!

Nicely done, my friend! :D

Hope those F13 xA11 males aren't close by. ;)

Wishing you good growing weather! :)

Thank you guys for your encouragement. With a bit of luck the goal will be eventually achieved. So far so good I must say. Nature, chaos and my gut feeling (I take inspiration from PABLOS) seem favourable. I go along with the line that proves the best. Year after year.

Highlighter, your F13xA11 males are right next to them :D
Bangi Gloria getting outcrossed this year. The other spot has a massive Jacalyn male pollinating everything. I'm most impressed by this indica so far. Massive muscle plants.
Both Jacalyn and F13xA11 are the latest to flower. I hope they'll be done by end of October. Should be ok, but I'd like them done earlier. Late Sept, early Oct was the sweet spot the last few years.
F13xA11 on the left and Jacalyn on the right.

You can see what kind of weather we have. Drought stressed on this hill.

I'd like to pollinate the Bangi Gloria with Bangi Haze, if I can get hold of the seeds and move out of the fems. Although new fems are on order and will be done next year. My stock is severely depleted and I'd like to have a bag full of uniform, productive fems, that would allow me to run an efficient outdoor crop on a moments notice. Should the need for such arise...

We have harvested 5 Gloria f2s yesterday. 2 crappy ones (bad soil/overfed? burned leaves, stayed small...) and 3 lovely ones. Pretty much perfect. Now lets hope they smoke well. Heavy and compact, structure and flowers. And stinky :) Slightly purple on the leaves (no proper cold nights so far) and a pleasure to trim.

Nice, dude! :good:

Running the F13 x A11 OD last yr., I didn't think one would be done til Nov. but she finished quick for a mid Oct. harvest.
May that nice weather continue to bless you. :)

Good stuff!

Cheers for bringing Bangi Haze to my attention, glad to hear it will be re-released later this year.

Like what you are doing there and you seem to be getting great results.

Look forward to more updates.

Hi guys,

First of all, great project Barbanegra! I want to say that Gloria is for now the best outdoor weed for me :) Early, very potent, and nice fruity smelling. This year I found some nice purple pheno, sorry for bad pics quality. She was harvested 4 days ago.

Great pics every one  Bangi Gloria looks like a great outdoor hybrid, bangi haze/purpurea ticinensis dominant appearance but maybe the Guerrilla Gold touch improved the yield even more

Welcome all and thank you for the photos my friends! They look good :D

I'm just back from Madrid. I've spent the last 10 days travelling, so please excuse the late reply.

I'll be back with more info after I've visited the gardens and had a taste of what is already dry.

I wish you all a bountiful and safe autumn!

C3 and two outstanding Glorias from the river -> jackpot! :dance013:

they are my prime selection from the Bangi/Gloria pool. the high keeps me awake all night picking out seeds and making hash. my bangi witch is back :)

the smell is very strong and very ethereal, makes your nose free. a mix of all the warm colors in tone. i like it a lot. brings back the memory of some nice plants :)

especially the #Glorias are interesting. double the size of their sisters, with truly massive fluffy colas. i think the Jacalyn male is a good match. i expect monster #plants in the offspring.

Hello everyone!

Does it look like a Congo?

I have this fat male here. The other two Congos are completely different plants.

Hello Barbanegra,

Our Congo has a modern sativa/indica looking. Does your congos seeds come from an original ace seeds pack or other source?

Hi dubi. I got my Congo in Barcelona in a shop near Camp Nou. They were in the original package. The male in question looks now more like his siblings. The leaf shape has changed in the upper leaves to resemble the other ones, with elongated tips. Structure-wise its much more columnar and robust.

Congo is the quickest to start flowering.

The "blue" Floating Genie on the left I keep squishing and bending and it raises its head back up in no time. Hollow stem.

Congo hybrid was bred latest generations towards fat compact appearance, more chitrali looking ... but later showing congolese sativa traits in the flowering.

I'll use both males, as I appreciate a sturdy frame. The slim, branchy one has a stronger, lemony smell at this stage. Wonder what harvest date will the Congos give me outdoors. And indoors for that matter.

I was thinking what to run this spring and have narrowed it down to 5 or 6.
Still have to get to the bulk of my stash. Smoke some, get the seeds, make hash. I will then pick my best Bangi Glorias. I have a couple favourites from the first tests :smoke:

My plan is to make new fems and inbreed the Bangi Gloria line. I have thought of mating it with Congo from the male side. To get out of the fems and keep the congolese direction, but I might first see how it fares in the wilderness. Hit it with reversed BangiG pollen instead.

Apart from the aforementioned I want to plant Grapefruit x F13A11 and Gloria x Jacalyn. They will be my two bets on last years selection.

Then I'd like to try Maroc x OrangeBud from a polish outdoor grower hodowca - he's grown monsters with them and is not the only one who has warm words to say about it. So I'd like to see how it grows for me.

The rest is fuzzy. I have Ciskei x C99 that I'd like to multiply. BangiHaze x PurpureaT to look for the special smell. Pure melon. This stuff was on a higher level than anything else I've had so far. Maybe my first grow indoors of Grapefruit and C99 was a similar experience.

5 different kinds is plenty though.

I want to lose a couple words about my philosophy.
My style is guerilla. No cultivation after planting. Even better would be sowing - I've left a lot of seeded buds in the spots. The plants have to survive slug attacks in youth and not mold in flower. Minimal site preparation -> I'm not lugging any soil! The rain does the watering.
