but it is same case like with juicy fruit smells. you can get juicy fruit phenos in strain called Long Time Jamaican, but it doesn't mean it has effect like juicy fruit thai

and you can get metallic pheno in bandaid haze IX, and it doesn't mean it smokes like metallic thai
Yeah I figured it showed up in various genes of this plant. I was trying to get a better understanding of this metal terp - how it expresses\presents to different noses, where it pops up gene wise etc.

Thai metallic is a sharp, acidic metal, like platinum being liquified. Nl/haze metallic is more like musky old copper pennies.
I'm definitely more familiar with old pennies. I have never witnessed platinum being liquefied.
I had a cbd version of kali mist that smelled like Thai food(curry?) and had an acidic thing going on but it reminded me of green peppers. Maybe it was the mix of all or some of the terps that made it present that way.
I look forward to exploring the genes I have more. This is why I ask questions, so I have some sort of idea of what I should expect and what may be a good example in the line. I'll dry and smoke anything I grow, if it's bunk the earth can have it for compost.

I look forward to seeing your plants. You’ll have a great experience hunting through them.

The metal is in there somewhere. You’ll know when you get a whiff. Good luck!

I normally don't do journals\logs and when I do it's the lazy man's type. I'll probably do one this year like I did last year depends on if these seeds do anything.
2 of 5 are up the other three are thinking about it. I got impatient, dug them up to see if they were doing anything and I'm not sure I replanted them deep enough.
I don't think so as the seed shell didn't come off (to my understanding the soil helps remove it as the plant breaks ground and opens) and when I tried to remove them I pinched to hard so I think that ones going to die and the other two may have stayed on to long for photosynthesis to take place in a timely manner.
I'm going to wait a couple days as I just did this a few hours ago but I may try to pop the same strain again or a different one. If it's different I haven't decided which yet.
It's Santa Cruz pure haze X Nepali from doc d and mountain gold from green mountain.

Those sound like interesting genetics to work with.I prefer to have them out of the shell completely before I plant them.

Seeds don't need soil to get out of their shell, you can fully germinate seeds in paper before planting them, it will work sometimes better than having a taproot coming out and placing seeds in the substrate. It's just a matter of choice and what method you're comfortable with.

I'm still figuring it all out. What I'm comfortable with, how I want to do it etc.
So many options and so many points of view\opinions to choose from.
My first try at soaking in a cup I drowned them because I thought you had to wait til the root came out. 5 days later....
So now 24 hrs max soak time and in the dirt they go. This is the first year I had this problem. Seed shells staying on yes but these mountain gold it was like they were stuck on because it didn't open enough.
I'm leaning towards my digging them up may have shocked them and then not replanting deep enough lead to the shell sticking more.
If I pop more this season I may try the paper towel method. If memory serves(I could always google it) one just puts the seeds in a damp\wet paper towel in a dark place, maybe put the paper towels(s) is a ziplock to hold the moisture and check periodically.
When is it time to put in substrate(I'll probably always be in soil)? Like how long of a taproot should there be? and of course I'm assuming one needs to be gentle when placing in the substrate as to not break the root or stem, how deep should I plant it?

When placing seeds with the taproot you need to put them about 1/1,5 cm deep in the soil but you can also wait for the seeds to fully open in the paper and place the cotyledon on top of the ground,it will be all white when out of the paper but quickly become green.
You can get something made to germinate seeds to put in salads, I don't know the name in english. It is in clay and has the perfect conditions to germinate any type of seeds. They will fully open in this and then place them is your substrate.

The gf has some sort of glass jar with a plastic mesh lid for sprouting seeds for salad. Do you think that'd work or would this clay thing be better? I'm leaning towards this clay thing as it'll be dark inside and clay can be superior to glass depending on the use. Either way I'm interested in seeing what this clay contraption looks like so I'll look it up.
Thanks for the info on placing the cotyledon on top of the substrate surface!

I think this is what you mean or at least is similar?

Well either idk how to post these links or the site doesn't like it. Maybe this one?

It says glass but it should load a clay\terracotta 3 tray germinator. It does on my end. Sorry if it doesn't on yours.

that's exactly what I had in mind, the link is showing a clay product not a glass one. it can help to use a product like this if you don't feel comfortable placing your expensive seeds in paper towel and wait for them to fully open.

Glad the link worked!
I may try a paper towel first as finances are tight rn but I made note of this product thanks!
