Ballast end plug for DIY cords?

I'm having to switch to 14ga. 5amps @240v over 50' drops my voltage by 0.53%. Based on what I know I expect good quality stranded 14ga SO should work just fine instead of the 12ga. What do y'all think?

I kicked the overall length up to 150' in the calculation in order to cover the in-wall wiring. A 5a load at 240v on #12 gives you a 1.03% voltage drop (2.5v), and on #14 gives you a 1.64% drop (3.9v).

You'll be fine.
