Bald Maruf Afghanistan Cannabis Landrace
Morphological transition within the genetic pool observed in Maruf, an area suggestive of prolonged cultivation, a notable uniformity prevails among the newly captured variety of Landrace from Southern Afghanistan.
The flower formation exhibits consistency across the cultivated area, each patch with its distinctive nurturing capacity, becoming a pivotal factor. The irrigation is an important factor in shaping the expressions at the end of their cycle. The showcased variants indicate extreme Narrow-leaved traits, notably distinct from previous Afghanica discoveries in the region. Inflorescence exhibits a spear-like aesthetic, attaining a considerable height of up to 5 feet for a single primary flower.
This variety is termed "Gunj" in Pashto, translated as the "Bald variety" in English, this nomenclature aligns with its characteristic minimal leaf production. Strikingly, calyx production in this variety surpasses other regional types. Trichome production, though variable among individual plants, manifests abundantly in these specimens.
Some locals believe that this variety dates back to old Iranian times, though the exact period when it was introduced to the Maruf region remains unclear. What stands out, however, is the consistency of the “Bald” trait across the population. These plants grow spear like, heavily flowered, and have exceptional branching.
One standout feature we observed was the substantial trichome production with Christmas-tree like secondary branching. These plants develop into legendary shapes, and by 10-12 weeks of finishing, they turn into tall, dense poles of flowers.
As noted earlier, this variety has refreshing, minty terpenes, with a dominant aroma of fresh herbal tea, reminiscent of concentrated eucalyptus oil.
