Bad Soil ----> Good soil

High friends! My question is simple. Can an bad outdoor soil be converted into a good one?
Example: we have good outdoor location which is on a top of the mountain. We want to grow our the best autos. BUT the soil is poor. It is a clay with poor drainage. We must bring out own soil to grow there... but... can we bring, instead of 20 gallons of good commercial soil (for five plants), say a mixture of high grade chicken compost or bird compost, say 5 gallons, one gallon for each plant + some styrofoam, for drainage? That will be native soil, enriched with nutritions, and improved with styrofoam for drainage. I think it CAN be done, because i think, when plant grown with hydro, our lovely plants don't grow in soil (which is a natural form of medium), but in water with added nutes. I never grown hydro, but it is the system? Water is medium, and nutes are what plant really needs for life... Can poor soil with improved drainage and improved nutes, be medium to plant?:tumbleweed:

Thanks Jay my man! You sure helped me a lot! Yes, you are right, you need a some of the material to amend the poor soil. But mate, to just simplify things. Plant to grow need a minerals... The main one are N, P, K. For plant to grow need a aerated soil to grow well established roots. My plan is this: for every plant i am going to drill (with auger) a hole in depth around 2; 2,5 foot. That is for mid height autos like Mi5, or Diesel Ryder. In the native soil, every plant is gonna to have a 10-11 liter of soil (around 3 gallons). I was planning to drill holes, and mix in every hole about 2,5-3 liters (one gallon), of chicken manure, water crystals, and add a perlite or styrofoam, for aeration (depending on structure of the native soil). Mix that well on the site, add some lime and come back after 2 weeks, and check ph of that hole. This way i will NOT have a top feed, organic, space up, soil, but i WILL have a normal organic soil, suitable for keeping plant in life, and small % of feed to be normal (not small, not BIG ass), plant. This is because my plan is to have some serious number of plants. For that matter i need a simple recipe for medium, ok, soil. The digging and amending soil will be copy/paste to all holes, only thing what will be variable is a styrofoam/perlite for aeration, because of different native soil constitution, and lime for different ph of the soils. My plan is to simply fill bags with one bag/one hole, and say 10 bags in one big bag, and in the vehicle, and then just drill, fill (manure), styrofoam/perlite, water crystals, lime, mix, go to another hole. For planning 400+ holes i NEED to be simple :-D . And for that i need a small weight, strong as f*ck, food (manure), which i must hike in a 4-5 kilometers on top of the hill... I know that organic based, good soil is a MUST for strong plant, but it is a way different to carry up a 30 kilograms for 10 plants, then a 100 kilograms for 10 plant, on top of the hills ;-) . This is a good question and answer is worth a billions, because i am sure that most of us have the same dilemma, when carrying soil on the spot... And together i think we will find a good, compromised, solution for good soil/less weight, which will make our life as a guerilla life, much more easier/happier. Thanks man, i am really thankfoul, for having this conversation, and work out as a fellow comrades ;-) ... Sorry for my bad english... Peace!
