I have automated before almost all things you say yours could. You say you don't have a protothype or software. You know you don't need one and u can test the concept using prototype boards and the rest of the sensors and equipment?
Software is the easy part. If I had all the sensors for an unit i could hook them up to my system (or a new test setup) in a matter of days (actual work probably hours). And I mean including code. Anyway, make that prototype faster, because you first need to fully understand how the hardware works then code it to be simple to use.
