Autoflowers in hydroponics question?

I've read that AFs flower after maturity and I've read that they flower after the tap root hits the bottom of the container.

Which of these is more veritable? I was thinking if they flower when the root hits the button of the container, then how does hydroponics or aeroponics work with AFs?

This is probably obvious, but I like to fully understand things

the taproot hitting the bottom of your container does'nt make it go into flowering! It is just in it's genetic make-up! That tells the plant to start flowering! cause if that was the case everyone would be having 1" deep resevoirs haha

I think someone was just pulling your chain my friend!

Hydroponics is just a Water/nutrient medium and you are supplying the roots with an air supply via air stones!

Aeroponics the roots are just hanging there (like hydro but no water) and misted with a nutrient solution every 5 min. i believe! (might be diff.)

Cool, also, sort of unrelated.... Just a general hydroponics question.

I understand the concept of hydro systems, I wont be using one for a few months maybe.

Though how do you feed them in say a DWC? Would you just pour/mix the nutrient solution in with the water which the airstone and roots are in? Probably an obvious answer, though I'm just trying to do some research before I actually go into it :p.

dwc is the easiest way to go i suggest using flora nutes, very easy! my sour 60 were monsters with DWC and flora nutes over 3 ounces a piece cant go wrong hydro doubles your yield:jump:

if you want some advice on dwc check out my diary also if you want evidence of what can be achieved with autos and hydro check out war mongery's diary ;)

hydro growers dont fuk around mate we get the job done ;)

2 things you need to know when growing in hydro is ec and ph,once you have mastered and understood the importance of these 2 things the rest is a piece of piss.

hope this helps

Thanks everyone, and Westcoastgirl I know it may have been a stupid/simple question :p, but sometimes the simple things are the easiest to fuck up.

True autoflowers indeed flower after they have reached sexual maturity, usually when they're between 2-4 weeks old.
Some regular (12/12) strains, however, are said to autoflower when rootbound, or in other words, when the taproot has reached the bottom of the container and started circling around.

On a side note, I recently uprooted 2 Sour60s to check root development, and the rootballs were respectively about 40 and 60cm long, with a clear concentration in the lower half of the pot. I used to think using 1ft high containers was enough for AFs but I'd like to try something even deeper, or planting them straight in the ground.
