Cyklo

Member
Hello,

I had 1 Autoflower plant which was in a 2 gallon pot.
I was stupid to listen to someone on a different forum and I transplanted my 7.5 week old into a 4 gallon pot... My friend adviced me to use this forum.

Should i repot them back into a 3 gallon or leave it?
I'm afraid it wont be able to recover :(

Setup:

Autoflowering Plant is in flowering stage now, my first grow.

I have the following problems:

1. BROWN dots on leaves

2. Yellow edges

3. Some holes in leaves

Leave it in the NOW transplanted pot.

You have other problems....

1.-2. Brown dots on leaves and holes in leaves....buggers, probably spider mites. Spray using either insecticidal soap (now that you are in flowering stage) diluted permethrin10%.

Personally, in such cases, I dumped the plant and started over (you don't want to infest your grow spaces (wash down walls/floors with diluted Clorox water solution) OR bought chile/tabasco sauce added water 1/3 chili sauce to 2/3 water. Spray daily for up to 10 days..

3. Yellow and Brown edges- too HOT fertilizer or soil mix (yellow) OR nutrient deficiency....iron or magnesium.
Add a tsp. of Epsom salts to qt. of water. Put some rusty nails/bolts in a sm. bucket of water, let stand until you have rusty water, usually within a day. then water, esp. if yellow growth accelerates rapidly.

Brown leaves...overwatering. Let soil dry out about 2" below surface before watering again.

Back off the BioBizz.

Invest in water or soil tester to see what's going on....too much or too little.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response.

1.) I want to try to fix it. I bought Neem oil will this also help vs. the Spider Mites?
I dont think they are spidermites otherwise i would see white dots no?

3.) Why is Biobizz not good ? Its a all natural feritlizer!

I checked PH its around 7 atm

Ok if I were u I would back off from the fertilizer doesn't look like a bug problem to me I say this because of the spindly growth that is growing on top of the plant that is usually a sign of over doing it with nitrogen. Also leave the plant in the pot that you transplanted to and leave a autoflower in its final pot from the start of the grow never transplant them there is no need to if you have it in a 2 gallon or 3 that is plenty. Also autos do not need a lot of nutrients they are pretty self sufficient so back off the nutes and you will be amazed to watch them grow. If the problem progresses than I would add some epson salt a table spoon for a gallon of water and foilar feed for a couple of days. Also let your plants dry out to where you can pick up the pot till it is light you are growing with cfls so they shouldn't be drinking so much water that you need to water them so often and give them maybe A quarter gallon of water everytime you need to water. Hope this helps let me know how it goes. Peace mike

Yeah, I agree with you, Mikenite, over nutes....holes in the leaves do concern me of micro critters, but you've got good advice, as well. Time will tell. Best turning it around....it can be done.

First of all thank you Mike and Aridbud, This forum is truly amazing my friend was right to advice me to come here! Thanks again:

1.) I will buy maginifying lupe or mini microscope to look for intruders on leafes.
2.) I will cut down on nuts as u told me
3.) I will add epson salt, how much per liter?
4.) I will also neem my plants tomorrow i bought neem oil online this should eliminate the pests correct?
5.) I have 4 gallon atm upgraded from 2 gallon to 4 stupid me :(

6.) I checked my PH off the water which ran out of the bottom of the pot it is a 7.0 is this ok? Or do i need to PH down?

I will put a update in a few days see whats up... Also can I cut off all those half dead leafes? They take off energy for nothing right?

hey aridbud

I do see the spots u are referring to also which would also raise concerns for bugs also so your info is good also.. I definitley see the nitrogen overload by the spindly growth on top. If I was him I would pull out the microscope and pull the affected leaf off and look for bugs also. Could also be leaf miners also or some other kind of bug. Well if he doesn't get it under control he will have cob webs in no time if they are spider mites. But I would almost bet its a nute overdose of N next bud all I can tell you to do with autos is feed them very lightly they aren't needy plants you can almost forget about feeding them and they will do perfectly fine. I have grown about ten autoflowers just as side projects to have quick bud because I got them as freebies and all I did was water them and still got over a ounce per auto under a led light 290w growing 4 at a time so next time you grow keep that in mind with autos they are very low maintenence no need to pump the hell out of them with nutes. Peace mike

cyklo like I said less is more if you are growing in soil the best bet is don't bother adjusting you ph because soil has natural ph buffers in it and you will cause more defiency's that way if you are gonna ph only ph when you feed and if you do ph when you feed ph it at 6.2 to 6.3 but makes sure when you mix your nutes u mix every part you put in before you add the next for example A then mix then add B mix and so on .. Now with nee and foilar feeding with epsom salt I usually foilar feed like a hour before lights off so this way you don't get burn and you don't get powdery mildew. Also be careful with neem because that will cause burn also best way also before lights out and yes neem will kill bugs it suffocates them. Also a mix of epsom would be
A tablespoon per gallon so a teaspoon per quart. Let the pot dry out first check for bugs and lay offf the nutes and I bet your plant will be good in a few days remember you don't have nute autos all the time if they look like they need it then its ok tk feed them. Your ph in soil will run off around 7.0 because of the natural buffers in soil. By the way what soil are you using again there is not food in it already is there?

Yes, being a breeder, I've found I can do weak veg solution just before sex shows, then every 2nd, 3rd watering, diluted flower solution....adding Epsom salts about every 5th watering. Been growing autos for over 5.5 yrs (soil vs. hydro/aero) and photos for decades....and see they do fine with letting them dry a bit before watering.

Cyklo, if you have other concerns...we're here to help. pH is a tad high....are you using tap water? If so, let it sit overnight. ...and use pH down. Optimum results between 6.0 and 6.5, both water and soil.

See cyklo that is why you will get different answers because some will tell you that you don't need to ph when you water and some recommend it when you feed but also IMO that your soil is at the perfect ph that it is buffered for soil sits around 7.0 it's a nuetral ph. Also soil has buffers in it so matter what you ph will balance itself out. I have grown in soil for a long time now I grow in coco now coco you have to ph everything it's not as relaxing as soil is. Also cyklo I would offer to just ph your feed not your water if you are gonna ph anything like I said have grown a million and one times in soil and never adjusted my ph on anything and never had a deficiency this was way before the Internet had all this Info about ph adjusting but like I said good soil natural will buffer your ph. Now if you want to adjust your feed and don't have a meter to do which I am sure you do go and get AVANCED sensi a&b ph perfect that will automatically adjust your ph for you in tap water also and it's cheap for the a&b grow and a&b bloom it will cost you around 50 bucks off the net and it is good shit used it for along time. After I finish my run with my house & garden lineup I will be switching back to sensi a&b ph perfect for coco since they just came out with it. Just make sure if you buy it that it says ph perfect on the bottles. But if I were you I wouldn't really worry about feeding for a while. With autos u might only wanna hit them with nutes like 14 to 20 days up out of soil when they start flowering and in bud feed them like every other week and you should have no issues. Also lay off the water unless the pot feels light when you pick it up and way that you stunt the autos it will suffer in the long run on yield and quality. Hope all this info helps. Peace mike

Please PH your water and nutes before giving them to your plants. Even if you were doing the whole living organics thing your soil ph could swing and you can get lock out. There arent enough buffers in a bag of dirt to last that long. If you keep your water and nutes PHd every time you wont have to rely on the amendments in the bag of dirt to cover your ass because you already covered it yourself.

As promised a update:

Some leafs in the picture i cut off with sterilized scissors in 45 degree angle. I did picture of the leafs before i cut them off:

Pictures are here: http://share.pho.to/45u69

I think since I repoted the bigger older plant is looking much nicer and healthier... I also neem them once a day before the lights go off...

1 Plant is 5 weeks old
1 Plant is almost 8 weeks old

Question: Epson halt is it only feed on the leafs or also when I water them? I wanna Epson Salt them to add more magnesium.

Lay off the neem to much neem will burn your plants. Especially with lights on. Be careful with that.

So how often should i spray? I always turn lights off after neeming...
Epson salt spray or feed?
Is the plant looking better in your opinion?

The best way to use epson is for foliar feed through the leaves they will take it up if the plants are locked out. By the looks of the plants you either over fed them or they are really locked out of cal/mg. When you foilar with epson you should see your plant turn around in a few days. I would lay off all nutrients until you start seeing the plants improve. The epson should help with your lock out.

1.) How often should I neem my plants? And yes I always do it before the lights go off
2.) Epson Salt, should I spray it on leafs or do I feed it to the plant?
3.) Do you think my plants looks better Mike?
4.) Is it possible good that I cut those brown/yellow leafs off?

Exactly, chubbienugs!!!!!! Was going to say something but don't want to get into splitting hairs, ya know?

Cyklo...GOOGLE pH levels (water/soil) for marijuana...you'll see the same numbers coming up....for optimal results.

If using metric...a UK teaspoon Epsom salts to 1liter...have water stand overnight to evaporate chlorine. Put in spray bottle and spray twice a day until you see changes. You can water systemically every other day, but not drown. Once it looks like a healthy plant (probably 2-3 room temp applications), then continue with water. Too, you don't want to over power...diluted always easier than full strength.

Typically, I use Epsom salts about every 5 waterings (soil gardener). US measurements 1TBS per gallon...so the amount I quoted you roughly half for 1 liter.

A few applications of neem should take care of the bugger problem. Glad things are turning forward for you. Grow on!
