ATTACK of the LADY BUGS!!!!

Saw some ladybugs swarming yesterday outside. By the end of the day, I noticed about 50 had managed their way into my house. Went to check on my plants tonight- one made it all the way into my grow room! Came here to check to make sure she was beneficial, so rather than vacuum my ceilings, I'll need to figure out how to knock them down and contain them before my cats can. Thanks for this thread! Luckily, I'm under T5's so I shouldn't have that fry effect.

we've got 'em back down here too. They're everywhere!!! Hundreds in the house and hundreds in the two grows...from what I've read, they'll be gone when the food supply is gone.

Having just noticed a borg attack, I am currently collecting ladybugs and placing them in my grow cab...

I think Asian beatles where brought in to control ahpids on soybean crops? but I might be wrong.

I do not know if they eat mites.

Personal experience with the capture of these creatures makes me say NO! They suck at BORG control, but they are free and better than nothing. I think they eat the eggs.

For some reason, the lady bugs love my Cali Orange, and hang out on that a lot. A few settled down in veg and are eating borg eggs. It helps!, but is not a cure.

I have predator mites ordered for ages, hope they get here Wednesday as promised. That'll get em! die borg die

yeah the ones i collected and put into my closet were very lazy, lol...a bunch of them just "fell asleep/started hibernating" lol

but the busy ones are definitely patrolling, which is awesome. less gnats in the closet, and i haven't seen any other bugs either!

Artic, put some of those mosquito dunks in your grow! no more gnats.

About 1 tsp of dry dunk on top of the soil in each pot once a month or two months. no more gnats.

yeah i was looking at those mosquito dunks...but there's no way in hell i'm paying $30 for like 6 of them, that's just crazy... is there some sort of alternative? lowes must be marking those up like crazy, they're not made out of gold, are they?

After 5 days the ladybugs are still in my cab...there always seems to be one around whenever I open my cab. I'm catching more today and putting them in. My borg are @ a standstill....reinforcements might knock the population on the head...but it's not a short term fix...kinda like permaculture..ya gotta work @it!.

I do have some neem oil I will use once I see the LB's are no longer working.
I also have a uv-bug zapper in the cab...well worth it from my experience. I clean lots of bugzap from around it.

I have an enclosure for daddy-long-legs that I have up in the shed to encourage them to inhabit it. Am trying to get my hands on some Pitcher Plants or Venus fly-traps for an organic first line of defense.
