if you wait for enlightenment it will never ever come to you in a thousand lifetimes, if you ask for it and really say you want it to yourself then you can have it all and be as ascended as you desire, however it will take a lot of constant work for the rest of your life to walk the tao.
And the only gods that have ever caused raptures and been worshiped for it were the other planets in our solar system.
