Are these temps too high?

Well, not sure how well this works, but I have heard of it before for little cab grows.

Take 4, 2 liter pop bottles and fill them with water and freeze them, then put them 2 at a time in your cab, as they melt, rotate them out for the other two and put the melted ones back in the freezer.

Might just bring down temps enough in a little cab to make things work.
If you could go from 90 to lower 80's you'd be in business.

well, i kept monitoring the temps, and i've come to the conclusion that it's got a lot to do with lack of insulation. It dropped to 81 at around 2-3 AM and since sun up it's back to top 80's-90. I'm guessing the sun is heating the roof and this creates an oven effect, and at night, lack of circulation keeps that warmth trapped. That should be taken care of by end of may, so i'll take that into consideration then.

bong, yeah, i kept reading up on chillers and exchangers and realized it's more for use with cool tubes i guess?

But like i said earlier.. if i'm going to spend 400 extra on either a heat exchanger or an A/C, which i'm guessing would cool it to waaaay below 77-82 (8,000 btu, lowest i could find online, ducted directly to a 3x3 tent), why not go with what's proven and not spend 700-900 bucks on an LED that may or not give me the buds i desire?

What would you guys guesstimate for cost on running a portable 8,000 btu unit and a 400-600 HPS? right now i'm looking at 28 cents per kw/h.

ddrew, yeah, that's what i'm going to test right now... possibly place them at the intake. but then, perhaps i shouldn't go with a tent, but rather an insulated area and go sealed recirculating air, no? actually, i should do that with the A/C too, right? get a little 100 dollar CO2 thingy and just let er rip?

as to penalties... well, aside from the fact that i'm a law student and i'd fuck up my future forever, anything weed related is a felony here. absolutely no misdemeanor even for a dime... I've had friends get their cars confiscated for roaches in the ashtray.

I would do an isolated cool tube with a remote ballasted 150w hps and have a separate exhaust/scrubber for the plants. Lights on at night and lights off during the day should keep you ok if your night temps go down to low 80's....that's about as cool as you're going to get without breaking the bank and you'll harvest what you're looking for especially if you go vertical with it....

See, this is what i was afraid of, jaja, having to learn new stuff. I've pretty much stopped evolving after scrog. And i'm very much partial to SOG, it's much easier to "train", if you can call pruning side shoots that, and much faster than anything with a screen...

But hey, survival of the fittest, eh? Guess i'll have to adapt if i want to pursue this hobby on my own. Shit is getting too fucked up and like i said, i'm a law student, i really want to cut ties with the underworld. i figure it's much harder to get popped growing that get popped scoring, am i right?

edit: cut drug related commercial ties, jaja, still plan to rub elbows with the druglords, need my future clientele ;-)

Since you are in law school, maybe you should try to get medical marijuana going on your island. I doubt cancer is a big problem on a tropical island, but cheap, affective, and taxable medical cannabis might be alluring to a island that bases its income off of tourism. Tourism seems to be a hard hit industry these days.

why do you assume it's an island? and i meant for when i'm a lawyer, not for my crop, my crop is for me only. i only want around 4 oz hardly commercial, jaja.

And the med... thing is.. i can't do anything regarding this. My hope is to be involved in politics in the future, and i'm as left leaning as they come, so... i gotta be cautious in what else i represent myself as

sorry, suddenly thought i'd said more than i remembered in my stoned state. Got all paranoid.


i think i'll go ahead and build a little clone box out of a rubbermaid and some cfl's and run it for a while until i order my seeds and stuff to see how i can swing the temps. Today it's actually running a bit cooler, 85 max...

I'm thinking that running the a/c at night during lights on, which drops my room down to 72-75, and using a couple freezer packs in the intake during the day when i'm not there with lights off and using LED's i can get away with it...

I'll hold off on ordering eventual lighting system until the roof is tarred and i can test temperatures in the clonebox.

I'm going to be optimistic. Otherwise, suggest some heat resistant strains to test and i can do some stress testing .

fuck, i'm smoking some 30 dollar an eighth weed that i forgot a little nug in a lil glass thingie i take with me sometimes, been curing in there for around.... two months. DAMN, it had lost smell when i put it in there, now it smells like guava and the stone is smooth, a bit cerebral with a very relaxed body feeling but absolutely no couch lock.

I am faced with the same problem with my garage (where I plan to grow). I haven't tried it out yet, but have an idea. I'm going to get a large cooler and fill it with ice water. I'll then get a heater core from a car at the junkyard (or buy a new one). I'll mount the heater core to the intake side of my grow box. I can then get a pump (thinking a bilge pump for boats) to pump the ice cold water through the heater core which will cool the air going into the grow box.

Of course, you will have to keep putting ice in the cooler and draining it when it gets full from melted ice, but if you get a decent size cooler, the ice and water will be fine for a couple days.

Just a thought.

it's definitely a lack of insulation thing... at midday it was holding at 85, now it's rising to 87, and trending up, at 6:30 at night. What this means is an early fall schedule for my university so i can be here for the upswing temperature and run the A/C.

Seriously, my biggest problem is running the A/C in my absence, landlord would freak about wasted electricity
