I returned the Osmocote. Now I need to find a time realease fertilizer that doesn't contain plastic. Is there anything cheaper than AN that works well? No bone, feather, fish, or crab meal is a must.

Edit: Now my dumbass just read this published by the USDA Forrest Service Proceedings by Douglass Jacobs... "The coating technology in Osmocote (OM Scotts Company, Marysville, OH) was developed in the 1960s, and this coating is classified as a polymeric resin. The coating process involves coating a soluble fertilizer core with a thermoset copolymer of dicyclopentadiene and a glycerol ester (linseed oil) dissolved in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent."

So wait, it's not a plastic polymer but a resin and linseed oil based one? I'm an idiot lol. Though not technically organic, it will break down in a much shorter amount of time than plastic. Ok by my book, but still... Fuck Monsanto.

lol. Farmers use time released Nitrogen in corn fields. It's actually not TIME released, but HEAT released. Once the ground heats up enough, it's game on. Up here it releases Mid/End of June. But that's in a plowed field where the soil is dark and collects sunlight.

I'd still use it. Just try to find a bloom fert for your visit when flowering starts. I know Jobes makes Fern fertilizer sticks that might fit the P & K bloom requirement.

Thanks Tycho, yeah I use Jacks Classic Blossom Booster 10-30-20 during flower and love the results it gives. If I've made it as far as flower than I feel confident that I'm doing something right lol.

Might apply the Jacks and do what do what you said with the Jobes sticks. The Jobes All purpose (powder, not the pellets) is really good to mix into the soil when you first start out. That bacteria mix really does the job in organic soils and it's light enought not to burn the seedlings.

No. Just in summer to help with evaporation, over heating soil, and air camo. If they make it to fall, there's enough distractions and less severe sun to warrant extra work.

I broadcast the seed as opposed to simply hit the soil from the hole

I’ve taken the plunge and put some auto gelato in pots to get going- weather is set to warm up next week, so after a week or so under light I’ll get them out.
I made some of the ‘instant transplant’ pots by cutting windows out of the sides and bottom of drinks cups,

I 3/4 filled with potting compost....
I got given a sample of mycorrhizae etc granules (pictured) so I sprinkled a tsp. on Got to be worth a try for free:

then filled the pot up, and put the seed on.

Gave them a little water then covered with dry soil, in a bag somewhere warm.
Fingers crossed. :tiphat:

Guess who went and got Osmocote again? This fool right here. :tiphat: Stopped by a local family owned store I've been meaning to make it out to and man did they have an awesome range of organic products. Problem was everything was meat-based meal. So with my new knowledge I bought into it again, and at a cheaper price! God I hate Monsanto, now I can't live with myself.

Also got some Jobe's All Puprose, a personal favorite of mine. Something about it really makes a difference, not just with nutrients. Lots of awesome microbes in there, not sure what that will do in a soiless mix but I know it's great for young plants. Really jump starts them.

An Idea I came up with to start seedlings out bush (food tents.) Might have to give that green skirt a trim. Going to camo them into the grass.

I'll be dropping some Guerilla Gold #3 seeds in to germ on 23rd May. Has anyone grown them before? Am now erring to grow them pots so they can be moved about. They'll be finished under glass when I can eventually get some glass for the greenhouse frame I've put up during lockdown.

I grew them a long time ago, short stocky plants that finished mid-late September. Potency was decent but not great, hashy taste, in my climate it was very susceptible to bud rot.

That's what I need Boogieman, short and stocky plants. They'll be grown in a south facing garden at 52 degrees in the UK. :thank you:

That looks like a nice rich soil.

I got a bit impatient and scraped back a little soil to check, and it seems they are all sprouting tails :woohoo:

Game on!
