I gotta ask...what is your exhaust fan rated at? I'd liked to know how close you are to the rated cfm of the Sok as compared to the Can filter...and which Sok did you get?

Thanx...

449 vortex fan and the 6" sok

Thanks for the info. The weight of my carbon filter makes it tricky to install by myself in my flower room, but it does work excellently.

OK...you're were running at the max rating. Maybe I should kick up to the 1000 cfm from the 850 and really underdrive it?

Anybody else got any reports on peformance to share? good or bad? Ive foud good prices over here and i was planning to buy a 6 inch for my main grow, but if its not gonna work then i dont wanna waste my money...
Over here we dont measure our fans in CFM, we use Cubic metres per hour.... according to Prowgrow growshop website the 6 inch is meant for upto 765M3/Hr, which is comparable to the more powerful 6 inch fans likeive got-most centrefugal fans over here some models have 2 versions one more powerful, and there are 2 6 inches, ive got the more powerful 6 inch, the RVK150L1...which according to progrows table should match the odor sok 6".... My current grow sutuation isnt great for hanging things.. and the lightweight if these would be a godsend...but only if they work. So has anyone else got any feedback for us....
Be lucky ppl

I was inspecting my ducting from the sok to the hood and from hood to the fan and I noticed some leaks after the odor sok. I plugged them up and most of the mj smell has cleared. After doing some research there isnt a whole lot of light weight options.
One of the other options is the vaportek ,but at 150.00 for the unit and the canisters are 60.00 bucks a piece. plus the don't last any longer than about 70 days.

Thanx for the update with the leaks and stuff. I think under driving a filter is an option. I just saw they now advertise a 6 month 'life'. I'm pretty sure before they were saying up to 12 months.

As for the Vaportek...just get a good carbon scrubber instead. If the Sok ain't gonna work then get some type of can filter thing. I like the Air Reactor stuff myself. They're rechargeable and the same price as a comparable flow non rechargeable scrubber.

I have a can 33 filter , but no place to put it. Its to heavy to hang fin the hydro hut and it takes to much floor space inside.
when I was growing in the c22 I just left it on top of the cab

Hmm, I was thinking of ordering one of these... maybe not now? I'm confused, would someone recommend these or not?

I would recommend it only if weight is an issue (its better than nothing), but if it isn't for about the same money a can 33 will be better

They actually cost a little more in the long run cause they now say 6 month life where a good can type filter lasts at least 12 months. Also sounds like you should pick up a larger size than you think you really need so less flow over a larger surface area of their carbon weave stuff may be the answer.

Aren't the sok's renewable? Didn't I read something about putting them in the oven?

Now that would be good...
I may give it a whirl then if the smell u were getting was through leaky duct pete... 55 pounds not too much to drop to try it.....Ill give it a fair swing but if it cant do the job ill get a mountain air 200mm and use a 200-150mm reducer. Im going ventilation mad at the moment, that is my current area to concentrate on.
Pete, after a couple of days post back please if its doing any better....
I think their lightweight nature makes them very attractive even if they do only last 6 months....if it is effective for 6 months i reckon theyll be worth it...and once the prices come down when they not so new....

From what I understand they should be put into the washer to clean as they have no prefilter and tumble dry low or something like that. I've never seen anything about recharging them in teh oven though???

You are probably right...being an old fool means reading too much and not remembering correctly. So if I mistyped, please forgive me. Pretty please?

Mine crapped out pretty quickly, mid growr i had to upgrade to a carbon scrubber to keep my ass outta jail.

I followed the directions that came with it too. Once my ladies started to great me at my front door, I tried washing it, drying it as per the instructions, and it never really killed all the odor.

On top of that, It actually sounded like there was more restriction in my ventilation with the odor sok on it, then my 30lb carbon scrubber.

Exact same experience as Mister Postman.

I had reservations about buying the two I did but, the marketing won me over. They worked just until my girls started to get stinky, 4 weeks in. I freaked out and overdrew my account via ATM and booked it over to the grow store. Since installing the carbons there is no smell.

I didn't save any money with the Odor Soks.
