Anyone using the Hanna pHep PH montior?

How long does it usually take for your reading to stabilize? It seems like mine needs to sit for at least 5-10 minutes to balance out. I just got it and am wondering if it is working OK. It also seems like you need to calibrate everytime. Is that normal. I used to use litmus paper....

I have the Checker by Hanna the one with the red top, I've had it a couple weeks so far no issues with fluxuation.

BMF,

THanks for the reply. How long does your Checker model take to give a reading? I think mine is fairly accurate,it just slowly adjusts downward until it the reading stops moving. I come back about 10 minutes later and it is usually stable. I think I have to get it dialed in/get used to using it.

I have it in front of me right now, and I will put it in a cup of nutes, so lets see how long it takes to read. Okay it took about ten seconds to get to a fairly accurate reading, which fluxuates a lil but only from 6.73 to 6.72 so if yours is doing this its fine. If it is jumping further than that you may need to return it.(like from say 6.73 to 7.40 or..) I have had many different meters and they generally only need to be calibrated every month no more often. Do you have a calibration solution of 7.00 or? Hope this helps.

Hmm... mine takes a while longer than that. It's not that it fluctuates back and forth, it's more like it will start out at like 12.0 and then slowly travel downward until it hits a point where it no longer moves. I have 7 and 4 calibration fluid and it usually takes a tiny tweak to get it on point.

I use a PePh 5 by Hanna and it takes about 5-20 seconds to read the value properly but consider i'm using Ro water with very little tap water so it's harder for the tester to get the correct value, very few salts.
I think you should send it back to repair, but if you don't mind waiting and it reads ok..it's up to you.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to try "renewing the juncture" per the manual tonight. If that doesnt work I think I am going contact Hanna to see what can be done.

MS

When renewing the juncture pay attention to cut just a millimeter or two of it and DON'T pull it out completly or you'll lose your tester..pay attention to the cap of the junction wich retains the "junction",maybe you should take it where you bought it and let them do it for you..if they fail, they pay..
