Where can one get a wooden cigar box?

I got mine by asking the cashier at a tobacco/cigar shop. They will give them to you for free.

Any One have good idea's for a Extreme Novice woodworker, to make a screen frame?
Screen was delivered yesterday. I am trying to decide just how tight the screen shoud be. Think the wood should have a groove made in it, so the screen mesh can be rolled into the groove? Kinda like a regular window screen? I did get the three sizes of mesh 100tpi, 150tpi, 200tpi.
I thought I could make the groove using a table saw. I am just thinking the groove made would be too large.

PS. I have considered because of the 3 screens involved my box should not be called a stash box, it really would just be a sifting box. Stash would still be held in jars.

I'd probably glue or epoxy it in place after it was done stretching, just to make sure it stays.Kinda like a regular window screen? I did get the three sizes of mesh 100tpi, 150tpi, 200tpi.

Thanx for the reply! :listen2: Will work on this tomorrow & Saturday. Will post up a pic when I get something done. Wish I had a bisquit(sp) joiner. Would make the corners much stronger. Oh well, I can smell a nug calling my name. Telling me to go this project some more thought. :sasmokin:

cut the 4 parts of the frame with 45 degree mitre cuts, use wood glue and screw the pieces together

don't use a groove and cord method to hold the mesh in place as i doubt you could get it taut enough or evenly taut....the best way is to cut the mesh so there is a few inches overhang, place the frame up side down on a larger piece of wood, then pull the mesh tight from 4 sides and tack the mesh in place on the underneath board, use superglue to adhere the mesh to the wooden frame...allow an hour to dry then trim the excess mesh flush with the frame by using a very sharp knife..then use a lighter to singe the mesh to seal the edges and remove any untidy threads...that's how it's done

* superglue dries instantly....esp on skin.....but when adhering mesh to wood, you have to make sure to apply lots glue to the mesh/wood frame contact areas and so the glue doesn't set as fast as you would expect

also ..Superglue can 'run' very fast and dribbles can happen....so use it with care

happy dry sifting!

Been making this mahagony stash box (designed to hold 50 cigars) for the better part of the last 2 weeks. Almost done the wood finishing, then a screen or two and she'll be near done.
