I LOVE that shit...when I'm crossing Utah or New Mexico and it's 2:00 am (And Coast to Coast just ain't keeping me awake) and I'm having a hard time staying awake, slap that shit on my stereo in the truck and grooove on!

sounds fun, i need to take a trip like that....

my boy got pulled over in a RV that i outfitted with a 8 light grow room in NM on an Indian reservation. they told him to drive to there precinct or whatever it is to go to jail! he asked "what if i dont go?" they said "then you cant come to any of the gatherings or meetings" he never went. WTF!!!!!!!

coast to coast, love that shit, but my Sirius don't get it.....

dub dub dub dub dub

lots of people are really turning on to this sound it looks like
been listening to a variety of electronic music since early 90s

the dubstep im thinking of sounds a lot different than how a lot of the newer american style dubstep sounds. originally i heard dubstep in the late 90s and early 2000s. it sounded more like a mash between garage two step ambient breaks and psychedelic drum and bass kind of like these -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE3moVwKkro&feature=related and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToYCuOGb7rE&feature=related

the popularity increase is ironic because this music used to be in the gutter hole or given the lowest priority at parties. It was the back burner stoner room music. I vividly remember going into parties and it would only be played in rooms with no more than twenty to fifty people at a time, mostly stoners or ambient fans. Very mellow, groovy and funky but still bass and drum and synth focused. trance and house electro anthem would be considered the mainstream electronic music with the most people on the dance floor its still probably is. dubstep isnt bigger than trance or house. i dont personally care to much for trance or house but i cant say its all bad.

Enter new dubstep with its speaker thrashing bass and tweeter destruction trips. I want people to get in on this little inside joke from someone who knows and who used to produce dubstep of all kinds. we first started making ambient psychedelic dub music with reggae and heavy bass funky influence, in between those tunes we would make this multi layered tracks with the idea that you super dub the bass and you try as much as possible to cause as much fatigue and thrash on the speakers. that was like an inside joke to the fellow dubstepers, we would throw down these "bangers" in a set only a couple of times. kinda like a "haha ya i f'd up your stereo mate, what are u gonna do about it ??" type of gesture. that speaker destruction, we thought, was punk like reggae and a new thing to try and do with electronic music. we only would put it on for a minute or two, nothing like what we hear today with every song an bloody banger haha. it caught on almost over night. we were not the first people to experiment with the idea but the sound grew out of a joke. the main stream stuff is very formula like, just like all electronic seems to do as it peaks in popularity. it becomes more accessible to a wider range of people, I can't hate on this, music changes, it has its ebb and flow, some may think it was cooler when it wasn't as popular, maybe more hypnotic and ambient vs heavy bass anthem and speaker bangers. I like both but I prefer the older sound. it has more balance and groove to it that flows and feels more natural to dance and listen to imo. most of it has a good vibe and that is the point. if we can focus on more on the actual music and less of dj hero worshiping and pandering to the ego and false idols , we can get some great music and new ideas. the egos cloud the music man. there are alot of young people coming up right now making great tunes with real instruments combining that with dub and step and bass. look for them. explore new creative sounds, break from formula and create something cool.

check out some of the artists im diggin at the moment...
first one is a band called two fresh, live drums and one turntable and a couple synth tables...bad ass watch out for these boys, this is the new underground sound irie!

It's been everywhere the last few years, well in uk clubs anyway, they're always playing dubstep wherever you go. I don't really like it, but its good if you're on mdma.

I actually thought it was a purely British thing, we have dubstep in the charts ffs. Seems to have taken over from drum & bass a little bit.
