Currently on the wagon. Lungs were getting congested. I quit every year for a month or two, but when I do, my arthritis gets worse.

I have a freezer full of bud and hash from the last harvest, but I've gotten back to getting high on weekends only. I haven't been high since Saturday night / Sunday morning.

I really perform better at my job when I'm not getting high every night. Sometimes I wish I had chosen a different career so I could get high more. I love what I do, though, and I'm good at it. Waiting for the weekends makes it more powerful anyway. More meaningful too. Hash becomes more like a psychedelic drug when you haven't gotten high in a while.

Starting to think about looking for a new job. I've been in a really high pressure environment for a lot of years now, and I'm thinking about moving to a more relaxed position. Possibly even in a different industry.

But .. But .. Shaman why not just use synthetic urine?

Well, I would love to do that, but I know the exact facility where I will be tested at, and I have been tested there before so I know the procedure they use, and there are a lot of ways I could screw it up. I heard of a guy failing because he flushed the toilet.

It's just not worth losing a good opportunity over not smoking herb for a month. Yeah it's gonna suck, but I have done it before.

Been taking little breaks here and there after having smoked/vaped pretty much daily for the last 11-12 years. Havn't smoked in 2 weeks. Not dependent in the least, but give in often because of the "peer pressure" if you must when out with friends (nearly every weekend).

My motivation behind cutting back is trying to obtain better dream recall. Unfortunately cannabis makes it harder to remember my dreams in the morning. Ever since experiencing a random lucid dream a few years ago I've been fascinated by them. Obtaining them however have been far and few between. It led me to realize that I don't hardly remember any of my dreams when I wake up. All I usually get are bits and pieces.

Becoming conscious while asleep is something I want to explore more so I've been training my mind and cutting back to just toking on the weekends. It's helped a little, but I'm wondering what a month + break would result in.

Experienced a pretty wild one near the end of last week. I came home from work exhausted and took a lengthy nap. Maybe around 9-11:30pm. I woke up and did an hour or so tending under the lights. Since I already had a few hours sleep I decided to try some Galantamine and went back to bed. While laying there I started to feel like I wasn't tired and was wondering if taking the Galantamine was a mistake and going to prevent me from falling back asleep. Before I knew it I was up and rummaging through some stuff in my spare bedroom. Eventually some odds things (2 of the same toolbag I don't own) led me to the realize that it was a DREAM! Blew my mind. I managed to drift from laying there thinking I was struggling to fall asleep directly into a lucid dream!

Went outside.. the sky was night, but amazingly bright and vivid. Ran around for bit in the yard...came back in..overwhelmed with excitement and trying to decide what to do in this dream that started right here at my house, and then woke up. Nothing compared to what some folks experience, but one of the longer lucids I've had.

So.. check your reality whenever you wake up. You just might still be sleeping/dreaming and hadn't realized it. Plugging my nose and trying to breath always seems to work without fail for me. If you can still breath with your nose plugged, you're not awake!

Any dreamers out there?

Why don't you get high with edibles or tinctures? They can give you all the benefits of being high without having to worry about lung problems. If I ever get congested from the flu or a bad cold, I just get high with tinctures and capsules until I'm feeling better.

I haven't smoked for about two weeks. I smoked a couple pounds of hermi bud (long story) in less than two years. My phlegm went from having small balls of tar to looking like a blob of tar in colloidal suspension. I'm OK now, I no longer feel my lungs on a full inhale. Had a physical last Friday and doc didn't hear a death rattle so I guess I'm good. Thankfully, I never took up nicotine.

Have you tried melatonin? I get lucid dreams with melatonin sometimes even if I get high that night. Taking melatonin every night and only getting high on weekends, I remember almost all my dreams.

Remembering dreams can be a good thing or a bad thing. Lol. Sometimes they aren't the best if you're dealing with drama from relationships or breakups.

The last time I quit (took a break) I had insomnia bad. Melatonin does let me sleep but I felt like I was on a prescription mind drug the whole next day. Dreams? Not often for me, either way (that I can remember, anyway).

I am just ridiculously high right now. :) My apologies to anyone who's on a break. I never get this high when I smoke every day. Every Friday is awesome when you don't get high during the week.

You have to get the right dose with melatonin. 3 mg (what they usually sell) makes me sleepy the next day. 1 mg is perfect for me.

I've had insomnia my whole life. Weed works better for me than anything else. It works best when I don't have it every night. I get by with less sleep during the week now and catch up on sleep on the weekends.

I had the craziest dreams last night. I remember all of them. I dreamed I bought a motorcycle for some reason. Riding it on a dirt road through the woods was the most exhilarating feeling. I made all these plans for the future involving my new motorcycle. Then I woke up. Wtf? I'm not buying a motorcycle.

Yup. When I quit, it takes me a month to completely come down. Seriously. But then, when I light up, I get incredibly wasted, which lasts for 48 hours. It's almost like getting high for the first time again.
Re: melatonin-New research shows that melatonin aids in the regrowth of bone, which regenerate mainly at night when we sleep.
So besides helping sleep, melatonin helps make strong bones. This is a very recent discovery.

"Bone repair is a complex and continuous process. Biologically, it takes place in three stages: inflammatory, proliferative and remodeling phases [32]. During these stages, a set of complex biochemical events take place, including inflammatory cell infiltration, angiogenesis, cell proliferation and differentiation, collagen deposition, granulation tissue formation and mineral matrix deposition, etc. [32,33]. Previous studies have indicated that melatonin may play an important role in the bone-healing process due to its antioxidant properties, regulation of bone cells, and promotion of angiogenesis actions [33,34]."

I didn't research melatonin before I started taking it; I did know it is produced in the brain.

http://sleepfoundation.org/sleep-topics/melatonin-and-sleep

"Melatonin is a natural hormone made by your body's pineal (pih-knee-uhl) gland. This is a pea-sized gland located just above the middle of the brain. During the day the pineal is inactive. When the sun goes down and darkness occurs, the pineal is "turned on" by the SCN and begins to actively produce melatonin"
