howdy.

i had my orders ready to go and sealed in envelopes, then i changed my mind.

i have a few really great strains that aren't heavy yeilders and want something to up my yeilds a bit.

i've searched for a few hours and can't find much on big bud which is pretty surprising considering how long it's been around. i think the words are too small for some search engines.

i'm under the impression that sensi has either the original or something close to it. have any of you grown it out? any input? any links?

thanks all.

I think the original BB was a clone from the USA, that Sensi(or maybe Neville?) worked to stabilize. The orig. cross is a Mex X Kush.

I bought my Sensi BB in '98, and have grown some 50 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen BB. I'm more happy with my own beans, but I didn't go for the highest yielding mum, but the best tasting and most potent.

I've crossed it with Blueberry, Chronic, Ice and others. It made the Blueberry an easy to grow plant. The Chronic more potent. The Ice better tasting.

I think BB is underrated, and you should really only listen to those who have grown it, and had a chance to pick mums themselves.

Have more info, if you're still interested :joint:

Used to grow big bud back in the late 90's when i didnt know any better :)
IMO big bud aint all bad, but there's many better big yielders that have more taste and are more potent. So unless u'r really fanatic about growing BB, i'd pick sumtin else.

Well, I have PoG, Hog, Thai-tanic, Kali Mist, G13, Blueberry, Real McCoy, The Pure, O Haze, Sage, MOD ++ in my garden.

And Big Bud... and it's not going anywhere as of yet. As potent as anything I got in the Dam this year and last.

How about Skunk #1 as use a stable plant to use for crosses?

Look at all those sumtin x skunk#1 on sale from serious breeders.
So yea, it proly would be good, if not the best?
For stabilizing that is

around here we call it big dud. a few years back i spent hundreds buying all the big bud from various sources i could get. well i can say they all suck. the yield is good but the high is only ok and you seem to build a tolerance real quick. i would never grow it again.

^ what he said + sensi big bud beans are going for $100 bux per 15 beans.
There's a bunch of better stuff u can buy with that kinda cash

So if the guy wants to make something other than sumtin x skunk#1?

Skunk #1 has been breed for a high GCA, but that doesn't mean that crossing any Sk#1 to any Plant X would improve it. Heard any complaints about euroweed being to skunkified?

Have you done any Sk#1 crosses yourself? BB crosses?

i appreciate the input. i wasn't really looking to cross the big bud with anything. but it's not a bad idea. i like a weaker daytime high as i prefer to keep a decent buzz going all day on my day's off. so in an odd way, the big bud not being a great high is all right with me. then again, as ganjalf says, i'll just look for the best of the batch and should find something decent. maybe i'm delusional. i need to think this through. i'm off today. :)

i currently have skunk #1 from 11 years ago or so. i made a few hundred F2s. it's one of my favorites. i rarely have one that is better then average size though. i do tie them down so they don't get as big as if i just let them grow naturally.

i also have (all from the original breeders): super silver haze, s.a.g.e., cinderella 88, apollo 13, nothern lights, afgan #1, sweet tooth #4 (hate it. autoflowers in 30 days), malawi and a few others i can't think of and i crossed many of these. the biggest yeilders are the s.a.g.e. and the SSH but i hate the 70 days or so they take. once in awhile i find an early maturer but have lost the clones each time.

i'm buying the following from gypsy: Sensi star, Swiss bliss, Black widow, white rhino, skunk IBL and sunshine IBL from hill temple.

i'm going to do some more research on large yeilders and flip a coin tomorrow.

i'm anxious to place the order already.

thanks for the input. take it easy.

I had a BB cut in alaska a few years ago, it was from Jordan of the Islands. I agree that you build a tolerance to the high, but the taste is smooth, sweet, and the smoke is expansive. Good strain if you want to do a commercial run, just throw a few cuts from some of your other stock in the flowerin room so you have nothing to worry aboutso far as tolerance. my BB was as well liked as Mr.Nice,Cronic and Cali-o.

Try the Highland Afghani IBL...

I used to get the Big Bud and was never too impressed. It looked good and smelled ok... but the high was lacking.
