I picked up the Hakko and tried just holding it right above the herb and taking long pulls. Seemed kind of difficult to get a decent hit. Do you guys also just touch it to the greens and ignite it? Does it gunk up the tip eventually.

Also to the OP - if you order direct from Hakko online it is like $25 and they ship super fast. I recieved mine in 2 days. For the element without the soldering iron they ship free.
