Anyone else suck at public speaking?

yeah public speaking is pretty tough to begin with. Nerves before speaking are good IMO as it keeps you real.

I find if I know the stuff I am presenting I have no problems public speaking. I actually speak publically everyweek. Often to mainly the same audience I might add but still you need to do a good job. Knowing your stuff makes you looks smooth and professional.

I find if I am watching a fumbled presentation, even a little fumble and I loose interest/attention.

Here's a tip: Get your notes in order and staple them or bind them... whatever so that they cannot get mixed up. Loose notes sink so many presentations its amazing. If you powerpoint. Go simple. No bells and whistles.

For peeps who want to do public speaking for work or personal development there is an organisation called Toasmasters
http://www.toastmasters.org/

Regular meetings with set topics and the occasional impromptu topic so you gotta think on your feet. Great people who are there to help you get better at speaking or enough confidence to speak publically.

Public speakers are some of the most highly paid individuals. Why? Because no one wants to do it.

good luck with your debate

I get the shakes after a speech sometimes too but by the reaction Im a good speaker. Also get the shakes when debating a topic such as mj where I get a little heated. Dont know why.

I love being in debates where the opposing side loses their cool, and I just sit and smile. Cracks me up seeing someone get so pissed at me for being calm.

I get terribly nervous... so before having to do so, I now either:
a.) Take a benzo
b.) Take an opiate/opioid
c.) Get drunk

B, preferably because it doesn't slur my speech like benzos do and it seems to be fun to actually talk in front of a bunch of people...

I am in no way saying to use these drugs though

Strangely, the older I get (presumably with more practice) the more I hate public speaking. The only time Im somewhat calm is when its a topic I 100% know inside and out.
Im always second-guessing public speakers when I hear them so why wouldnt they second guess me? Thats what makes me nervous.
Btw, I find I do better if I jerk off as close to the appointment as possible (in both time and location).

EDIT: I better update my Gross Habits post :)

Just look at the fat chick in the audience and pretend you're presenting to an audience of fat chicks lol. Imagine her eating KFC while your presenting.

I couldn't go up and talk in front of people stoned to begin with. I am a really introverted person to begin with which is only magnified by being high. I would go up there and start crying or something haha.

edit: I was being sarcastic about the crying, but I would be stuttering and have terrible shakes.
