Anyone else really enjoy planning?

My dad was a meticulous planner. He was the most organized, squared away, dude you'd ever meet.

Must have been a bit of a disappointment to him when I became a man. More of a "jump in and get doing it" kind of guy than a planner, my plan is mostly "let life take me down the river and just try to keep afloat".

Missus Blazer, the family, the pets and I once drove the Alcan Highway (started in Anchorage and ended up in Colorado Springs) in the biggest UHaul they rent, packed to the gills, and towing a four horse trailer with three horses. Didn't practice, didn't plan a thing. Took us 21 days, but we made it with everyone in one piece (including the horses). Dad was beside himself when he heard we just jumped in and did it.

All along the way we met really nice folks and even stayed in Dawson Creek for a week or two. Let the horses rest and spent some great times with people we had just met. It was fantastic and provided us all with fond memories. If I was sticking to a plan, none of that would have happened.

I'm about 50/50. I like to plan things out, but I never forget one of my favorite quotes in life.

Life is what happens when your busy making other plans.

Recently I've been thinking about turning my backyard into a golf course.
It has about a 1000 foot vertical.
But it's more visualizing than planning.
Right now my planning is more on the summer garden.
What's the difference between visualizing and planning ?
If it results in an action like buying garden hoses, then I guess it's more like planning.
someone here turned his backyard into a putt-putt...
There's a secret free mini golf course in Portland
Last October, Olivier Bouwman was looking for something to do with his big side yard when it came to him: a mini golf course.
Bouwman, who is originally from Holland, moved to Portland about two years ago with his partner.
"I always loved Portland and the quirkiness," he says over the phone. "I love to live here and I love to contribute a little bit," he adds.
