Anybody Using FF Ocean?

Nape

Member
I am so tired of using the SuperSoil Brand shit from Home Depot. I have had a runoff PH of 7.5+ from Day One (watering, Feeding 5.6-6.0 pH). I am continuing to fight one Def after another. I am going to transplant them this weekend. What are the opinions on Fox Farms Ocean?

5 F****G weeks from seed, White Widow

See the K Def. on this one

Hello Nape. I love my fox Farms Ocean Forest. I am 1 of the few folks that doesnt dilute it with perlite and it seems to work very well despite the compacting. Make sure to add Cal/Mag to your feeding schedule when using it tho...Ive had deficiancies. Other than that I give it 2 thunbs WAY up.

Hope this helps,
Seed

i am running that too bud, I use it with the "Organic" promix those hydrostore capitalists peddle. Its been going really great for me so far, Have fun and enjoy the good dirt, I paid 20 dollars for a decent bag of that FoxFarm Ocean Forest. Should make tasty buds... I got a little first time thread going in the indoors soil forum here and its going good (just started really lol).

Nam-myoho-renge-kyo! I'm sure you'll have better results with the good soil, keep watching their progress and keep on keeping on, chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo too it helps with everything, you can quote me on that one.

Hey Nape you can get good soil from HD/Lowes without paying the FF OF price. Its made by Sta-Green and its the Nursery Mix soil. I just got a bag last week from Lowes. I've used it for the past 2 years with no problems whatsoever. Its completely organic other than the fertilizer balls in it. It has dolomite lime in it specificially for pH control. A 2 cu ft. bag costs $8 and you cant beat that.

Ive grown multiple strains in it without any problems. Plenty of great looking plants grow after grow. Hope this helps.

Pricey stuff but if you're lazy like me, and don't feel like buying seperate ammendments then it's definitely the way to go. Right out of the bag it's a bit hot, so no need to feed for a couple weeks at least. Seedlings might not like it unless you cut it with a good amount of perlite.

I use FF with 30% perlite, 20% peat and 16 litre of wormcastings with 2 table spoons each of guano grow and bloom per gallon of mix. I also add 2 tbls of lime per 2 gallon container and the plants love it. Just out of the bag it tends to compact and the root developement is low. But if you want to be lazy just add perlite and grow. You will have to amend with something just before flowering. Just top dress with something because it will run out of nutes.

I haven't found a regualr potting mix I like so I'm trying the FFOF this year. I'll just add some lime, gypsum, and maybe some worm castings. It's quite pricey though at $20 a bag.

True but......

The FF has oyster shells to adjust the ph. I use one tbls of dolomite per gallon for this reason and top dress w/one tbls first wk of flowering. Seems to do just fine. Watch for a ca and mg def. with this soil though. I add epson salts to my nute mixes or teas.

Must be nice at $10 a bag. I think I hear those AD and WB's calling your name too, with Sour Diesel creeping up on them. :smoker:

$20 is what I pay I thought it was pricey at first then I used it and have NO PROBLEM paying it now. needs more perlite though. the money you save in nutes makes up for a little of it.
