Any tricks/tips to speed up veg/flower times?

Alright so i have a pretty tight schedule between one break and the next break at school, so i wanna get everything done from January 17th to March 31st. ~70-80 days.

I plan to be using Liquid Karma, Fox Farm soil, and Fox Farm Trio pack. 400watt hps, etc, etc.

Is their any tricks or tips to speed up the grow? I was going to use 18/6 for the flowering but some say 12/12 is actually faster to grow?

Thanks,
marley

that's not gonna be easy. you need to veg for at least 2 weeks to get any kind of yield. to maximize yields, start on 24/0 and switch to 12/12. You'll want to work with a fast flowering indica to make this happen.

You have to choose a fast strain with a maximum 8 weeks flowering, veg for 3 weeks and then flip to 12/12. This is less than 80 days. Just grow more plants so not to loose yield, due to the short vegging time. I have a 400w too, and whether i grow 6 plants with 3 weeks vegging or 4 plants with 4-6 weeks vegging, yield is almost the same...
Really plants don't flower under 18/6(light/dark you mean right?), and if you want to speed up flowering you want a shorter photoperiod like 11/13 and cooler temps(?) i think. Good luck, i think that you can easily make it with 80 days.

The quickest way to do it is veg 24/0 or 18/6 for as long as you want to,then switch to a 14 dark 10 light photoperiod.

Indica need to be vegged to get any kinda yield @ 3 weeks or more of 18/6 or 24/0 b4 ya can flip em' over to 12/12 cause they don't stretch hardly. So i'd say get sour diesel or white widow something like that with some sativa in em' that u don't hafta veg very long at all that'll stretch & gain height & weight if doing most of the plants life cycle in 12/12.When I grew widow I only vegged 7-10 days Budded 10 weeks so 77-80 days still killer yield & buds.:2cents:There's some stuff I use that seems to make my plants finish faster you might wanna try it called:

Dark Energy-

Dark Energy™ is one of the most popular plant performance additives. Why? Because it really works… fast!

Dark Energy™ is a unique blend of select L- amino acids, vitamins and proprietary bionutrients. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, enzymes, hormones and tissues which are essential to the structure and metabolism of plants. The powerful L-amino acids contained within Dark Energy™ are extracted from natural sources via enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation. This ensures the amino acids are extracted in L-form, which is the only form absorbed and utilized by plants. These specialized processes are also responsible for the very distinct odor of Dark Energy!

You can expect these benefits when using Dark Energy™:

Accelerated chelation of essential macro and micro nutrients improving overall nutrient uptake
Improved vegetative growth and chlorophyll content
Stimulates natural production of plant hormones such as auxin and ethylene, responsible for growth and fast ripening
Improved yield and quality of harvest
Increased tolerance to stress
Can be used from seed to harvest
Highly concentrated so little is needed
Compatible with all fertilizer programs, even other nutrient additives!
An increase in nutrient uptake and hormone levels aids the plant in effectively and efficiently completing it’s life cycle in a shorter time period. The first time you use Dark Energy™ you will be amazed. Many growers have reported they see a difference within 24 hours!

If you are striving to push your plants to their maximum potential, and achieve quality only found in crops grown by the most advanced gardeners, you require Dark Energy™!

Dark Energy™ is a chelator, increasing the absorption of all nutrients and additives-----Every farmer has there own method & swear by the results of them hope this helped ya.G'Luck Bm357 :smoke:

yeah i mixed up my post.

I was going to do 18/6 for veg then 12/12 for flowering. Does it speed it up to do it any other way(24/0 for veg) then 12/12 for flowering??

this is my first grow.

will be getting a 5 pack so all will be grown.

that Dark Energy sounds interesting.

I plan to use the Liquid Karma all through the grow, in seed form to flower form = according to their directions, then use the Fox Farm stuff on top to load em up.

ill be waiting for some more responses heh

January 17th to March 31st? It's possible.

Buy female seeds and start them on 12/12, it will take 2-3 weeks before they'll start flowering. Yields will be greatly diminished but the grow would take around 10-11 weeks.

But what is the benefit to start with 12/12? Anyway the plants will start flower when they are ready, after 2-3 weeks, why not to veg for those 2-3 weeks for some extra growth, less stretch and better yield and then flip to 12/12?
Do you believe it will be faster?
I have done a grow with 3 weeks vegging and some of the strains (grapefruit,ww from FMS) were ready after 8-9 weeks of 12/12 (last weeks was 11/13).
From start to finish approximately 80 days...

best way to speed things up is to AVOID stressing them! No LST, no fim/crop/anything. Just grow and dont do ANYTHING that will slow them down.. thats the best you can hope for with a given genetics situation. :)

I sure hope you are not under age. You mentioned something about school. I take it you are talking about college. Here is some advise from a newbie that has learned the hard way.

Use the fox farm light warrior soil for the seedlings and when switching to flower then use the fox farm ocean forest. Fox farm ocean forest is ferted and does burn seedlings, light warrior doesn't burn.

If you decide to go with the fox farm soil and nutes you will need to add some epsom salts for Magnesium. Fox farm seems to overlook this and all of my plants have been starved of Magnesium and needed it by about the 3rd or 4th week of life. Just add 2 tspns to your water about the 3rd week of life.

Start your seedlings in 16 ounce beer cups and poke holes in the bottom for drainage. At about the 3rd week transplant. Add about 1/3 perlite to your fox farm soil for both the light warrior and ocean forest.

It has been my experience that you will need to fertilize using 1/4th strength fox farm grow big if you use the fox farm light warrior at about 10 days.

I have experience with both Nirvana's ak48 and white widow and the ak48 will grow really fast during veg. Even faster than the white widow it seems. If I was looking for a short veg strain I would go with ak48 from nirvana. White widow is harder to grow in my experience.

One last thing get yourself a ph tester. Keep your ph in the correct range. Even from the very first watering. Its sooooo important and overlooked by alot of newbies.

Good luck.

Hoping on Female Seeds NLxGrapefruit if still available or just Grapefruit
Yeah sounds good marley1 they got em' at seedbay female seeds x-line here's the
Description:
X-Line Grapefruit x Northern Light

What about a fruity NL? Grapefruit is family of the holy grail of cannabis (C’99) crossed with one of the nicest NL varieties. Spicy/fruity buds, white of glands can be harvested after 8 weeks. Only a few must be enough to find that very special keeper.

Flower Time: 8 weeks
Seeds 5
Environment: Indoor/Outdoor -----Yeah those should do the trick i'd buy 2 packs though :D just to be safe don't wanna waste any time with non germers or runts when time is an issue better safe than sorry.G'Luck! :joint:

its been my experience that if you flower (11/13) for the ENTIRE flower period that you can shave off about 1 week of flower time.

BUT you lose significant yield , and to me it was enough loss that I would not change from 12/12 again.

So guys can i make do with soil? Or should i get the Dro going?

I dont think i can afford 2 packs of the seeds. Ill just do all 5 as well as the free seeds that come with it :)

I really wanna do soil to save money and for ease, as this is my first install, i think jumping into any form of hydro mite be a bit much.

i plan to use Fox Farm soil, and maybe ill germ the seeds and drive them up in a cooler, so i can save a few days.
