Any Outdoor TGA Subcool Grows?

I grew out about 17 genetics outdoors last year of genetics from many different sources and noticed my TGA subcool genetics doing very well as compared to many of my other strains.

Anybody else notice this with any of theirs outdoors? I grew The Mickey Kush outdoors. Was ready in 6 weeks. How long did it take you to flower your TGA's outdoors and whats your latitude? Did it end up any good? I wouldn't mind finding some more strains with similar characteristics to the Mickey Kush outdoors.

What was good about the mickey is it got really potent really quick by flowering by August 12th and packing on a lot of bulk quickly with a lot of frost and smell of lemons. The mickey at six weeks was as potent as many other popular strains at 8.

I grow in the Pacific Northwest in Oregon where weed is now going legal and it rains a lot! Since I can't always light dep or greenhouse I am often searching for true 6 week strains at 45 latituded but that also have potential to go up to 8 weeks because some years the rain comes sooner than others. I just learned about KC Brains genetics and want to try those out. They seem like my style.

Some of the genetics I did that didn't do as well as the Mickey:
Girl Scout Cookies
Alien OG
Grape Ape
Maui Waui
Blackberry Kush
Early Skunk
Matanuska
LA Confidential
Another variety of Girl Scout Cookies
Jedi Walker OG
Super Silver Haze
RedWood Kush
Cherry Pie

Strains that did about as well as the Mickey:
Obama Kush
Superman OG
G-13

Everything was grow in the ground in organic super soil using layers, spikes, and ACT's. Got the soil tested by A&L Labs before the season began and amended the soil as directed. Did not have any problems with the plants. No Pests or diseases. Just happy organic style growing.

I grew out their space queen a few years ago. It got huge, and woulda been nice plants, hadn't it been for powdery mildew taking control. This is norcal so it wasn't due to rain or humidity.
I got a cross of theirs in clone I might try outside. We will see.

If I'm not mistaken 3-D or third dimension from TGA claims less than 8 weeks, 7 I think. I've grown 3-d in doors and it probably could be taken that early but the ones I had were lower yielders so I gave them another week. Nice stuff. I've ran about 6 of the older tga strains and outdoors they all did really well. Took them to November 1st waiting on 10% amber to show. Mostly Jack the ripper, Jacks cleaner, cheesquake, crazy train, 3-d, agent orange. All nice flavors, and the above list is in order of potency for me. really only the agent orange was noticeably less strong 20-30% . JTR and Cheesquake yield the best. In the upper half of CA. Grown in an earthworm casting based mix with peat and amendments in mounds. C99 could be taken before 56 days, I've heard 49 days on that too but although most of the bulk is done at day 54 maybe ,60 days is more finished looking and around ten percent amber

What kind of yields were you looking at.

I didn't do a traditional style grow so I can't give a true estimate. Did an outdoor SCROG with a number of strains I was experimenting with to find out their potential. They all crowded each other and some didn't get as much room as others. The SCROG did about 8 Lbs trim dry per 10x15 area. It was a jungle in there. The trellis sat about 7 feet high.

Can you show us some pictures?
Sure, attached is a picture of it flowering in week 4. The picture is a good estimate for frost potential but not yield. It stretched so much I had to top it late to stunt it a bit so I ended up with some smaller top nugs.

Thats a good Idea. The mickey I did last year only had a tiny bit of black mold on one top nugget when I hacked it.

Man, I really appreciate your response. Coincidentally, I just picked up the 3D and the Qrazy train to try out this upcoming year. I notice that they have half the potency potential of the Mickey so i'm afraid they won't be that great. Whats good about them is that they can finish early if they need to. Hopefully they can be dank early too!. If they do perform this upcoming season then I want to try out the Space Bomb and The Vortex because they both have potential to finish early. Unfortuanly, they may also be lacking in the potency department.

That would be nice to go out til November. That would be an epic year around here. Gotta have rain cover for that here. Southern Oregon can pull that off from time to time. September 21-25th has been the last day of the season for the last few years here. Then rain would come down for a week strait or so. A couple years back the season went til October 15th or so and that was phenomenal!

Long time weed nerd here, take if from me when I say Iv seen amazing TGA examples grown in the Cali sun!

Simply incredible plants demo'ed on the mendo dope YouTube Chanel. They run TGA almost exclusively so there's lot of strains to compare.

Check it out for inspiration!

I've grown three different vortex's and two spacebomb's inside and i'd rate their potency up there with Jack the ripper and jack's cleaner. SB and JC are slightly stronger but not by much. I liked vortex a lot used to get sweats from smoking it at first. with crazy train I got some trainwreck leaning phenos that really stood out, as well as some querkle leaning ones that were grapey. Querkle leaning phenos seem less strong to me but I think that's because they are more indica and I prefer sativa most of the time. Only agent orange is really all that noticeable concerning potency but I'd still grow it for the flavor and breeding.

Curious to the Outdoor growers of TGA genetics as well, I'm a flavor guy more so and would like to find a decent yielding plant with a strong flavor too it. Mickey sounds like a nice plant. Where did you get your G13 big dank?

Im thinking of trying a pack of Agent orange OD's next season.........Wanna find a male to hit to DNA's Tangie :)

Hey BT, how go is it bro? Sounds like TGA is great if yer looking for great flav's........Think there's a thread called TGA lack in pontency or something but there's a lot of good info on taste's/flav's/smells of TGA strains in that thread.

Cheers,

Danny

I seen some fire Agent Orange at the dispensaries around here. I haven't puffed much of the other TGA strains, yet.

Take a look at this video on the mendo dope channel. They give some positive feedback to the Mickey Kush: http://youtu.be/lkgmrQicXKw?t=9m25s

I picked up my G-13 through a local source that came from dispensaries around Portland, Oregon. Lots of G available here. Its a really unique looking plant.

I screwd up my reply to your post. The reply is within the quotation marks as your response. I can't edit my posts yet. I reported the post but nobody bothered to fix it yet?

Take a look at the link to that mendo dope video for good info on Mickey and other TGA strains outdoors.

subpar genetics

I have grown a lot of subcools strains and none off them impressed me, The only strains from TGA that were ok was the space bomb and querkle. The jillybean was a fucking joke. I wouldnt grow another TGA strain even if they were giving them away free

How many weeks did you flower your TGA strains on average?

^ I harvest all my outdoor around end of October. I have done tga strains indoor for 8 weeks and wasnt good indoor either. All the tga strains I grew got tested at sc labs & were only 15 - 16% thc except for a space bomb pheno I had tested @ 20% but the flowers are never solid. It seems like he breeds for terpenes and not for yield or thc content.

I had some year old outdoor Jack the Ripper tested by Steep Hill labs on a portable testing unit and it came out at 7.9% THC and 29% THC-A on a liquid chromatography model. On a gas chromatography model it tested at 21.7% THC.

Based on the secondary research redlaser provided quoted below the lack of standardization in the THC testing industry is a major problem. There is a complete lack of consistency in testing among growers, dispensaries, labs, breeders, etc. etc. which makes testing nothing more than a joke. But, on the other hand I want the bomb shit. If your puffing it and its not getting you ripped, well, thats a problem!

I see what your getting at. I have also noticed a discrepancy among tested marijuana. The high numbers could potentially be creating a placebo effect.
