Correct me if your talking of something else.....but just for those who don't know.
A water cooled A/C unit is a bad mofo. It usually comes in one peice (no outside condenser) and uses water to cool the refrigerent instead of outside air. They are quiet, reliable, and undercover. They uses a water source(pond, well, municipal water) and with the help of a sprinkler pump, circulates water through a tube in tube heat exchanger, while providing cooling/heating to your room through the air evaporation coil. They considered a "heat pump" type system.....and provide heating at the same cost.
Now....inlet water temps are going to depend on what your water source is. All i can tell you is that most water sources between 50-85 degrees are going to be acceptable for most applications.
Recirculating water is another variable. It is very good in some applications, but not practical in others.
Tell us some more info on your questions and maybe i'll have some answers for ya.
They only pump water when the unit is cooling/heating.....i don't know offhand but they use a 1/2 horsepower sprinkler pump for cooling, so they use a little less than full capacity of the pump. Think of a running hose.....about that much water.
is the water contaminated at all after its pumped through? it would be nice to use that water for a big outside vegtable garden or something. instead of just waisting good water.
The water is not contaminated after being ran through the system. It only comes in contact with copper pipes and the scale that accumulates within those pipes. Although illegal in most situations, waste water can be used to water grass but it is really up to the discretion of the installer. Most places have legislation in place to make it difficult to install these run to waste A/C systems. Like i said, you find the right HVAC professional and they will do anything your willing to pay for.
