I have 2 secret jardins I love em! Been using them for 8 or so years I've had no problems with them. No zipper problems like the gorilla tents... I believe they are made in France? I'm Looking at buying 1 more and I really dig the bunkhouse? version if that's What the name is. its basically a split room type tent so you can keep mothers and clone or veg in different places in the same tent, has shelves and inner walls or you can just use it as a big tent...

If you want a basic but durable tent for the best price, I recommend Hydrobay tents. 4x8 for $200 shipped.

interesting.. They (Hydrobay) are the first tent brand to have a divider for their 4x8 tent.. no image for it though on their site

Watch out for cheap vs quality... We had a serious issue with off gassing of tents and hydro hoses a few years back. Look into reviews of anything you buy beforehand, some tents will have a certain size light limit or max, some off gas with big lights. Buy it once... Peace and puffs

Got a 5x9x6'11 Gorilla grow tent.

Best purchase i made. No complaints, lightproof compeltly, zippers work perfect (just hard to go around the bars), holds up a 100 pound filter + fan (You can literally use it for doing pull ups). The bottom vents are great too.

First grow in them and my plants never looked this healthy lol. Really happy with this purchase.

One thing, Most ceilings are 8 feet so the extension wont fit properly unless you build it sideways or something lol, I learned the hard way, but honestly 6'11 is pretty high anyways.

I just bought one for the first time recently and really like it.

I bought a Quictent like this one.

Quictents 48" x 48" x 78"grow tent

I set it up alone without too much issues. Putting the tent frame is very easy.
Setting the roof alone was tricky. So if you can get help. Other than that it's
fairly easy to put up. What I also like is that each vent has a double string
closure for real light proofing. Other than the main door it has two sides
that you access your plants from the outside of the tent if you want.
Those will certainly come in handy when I end up with my usual jungle.

I bought an Aviditi PTU-67 tent. It's 4 x 2 x 5

It was really inexpensive & has the metal poles & metal corners like the Apollo. I paid just over $100 Canadian & it went together in a few minutes.

Haven't used it yet (waiting for legal here in the Great White North), but damn, it was a great deal. There are more pics in my album & I do have a thread on it.

I have a 4x2 Gorilla Tent. It has been a beast. Up and down multiple times. I am really happy with it. It is Hefty and feels solid. I have never been accused of being overly gentle with my stuff. Zippers could possibly be better.

If you are going to be careful and leave it in place Vanilla P seems to have hit the sweet spot though.

I use secret Jardine I replace my tent every couple of years and have alway used secret Jardine. I replace mine because it develops tiny pin holes and the zips seem to come away. My tent's are only taken down once a year for about 4 weeks. I'm not gentle with the zips but I don't reckon they should come away like they do. The tent walls are really thick so don't understand what the tiny holes are about.
I don't worry about light leaking because my tent is in a dark room and the light is only on when I'm in the room. I'm never in there when light's are off anyway.

The cheaper tents even from the big brands aren't usually 100% light-proof, and some manufactures even mention this.

I have a Homebox, Secret Jardin and a third one, but can't remember the brand name right now (Silver Box??) all pretty similar quality.
..i doubt the zippres in my Secret Jardin and Silver Box(?) are actually 100% light proof, but i have my flowering tent in a light proof area. Other than that, i have had no problems with the zippers of my HomeBox and Secert JArdin ..the Silver Box's zip isn't as good but seems to be good enough.
The frames on these seem to be good enough also.

Personally, i'd pay a little extra and would get a HomeBox or a Secret Jardin or something similar, rather than buying the cheapest one on ebay. If you live in Europe, German grow shops usually have good deals on tents, but make sure you check the postal costs before ordering one, cause the postals can vary quite abit =from 12 Euros to 30 Euros.

German grow shops usually have nicely priced light systems, bulbs and nutrients etc too, and i usually order more stuff to go with my order to cover some of the postals.

Some German shops are in english also, but not all. If you have trouble with the language, Google Chrome has a translator-feature in it, which helps quite abit.

Interesting assessment on the German Grow Shops.

From my experience, the only good deal I ever found in a German Grow Shop were on Homebox tents, which makes sense as they are a German product.

Every other article I compared, they were moderately to very expensive, particularly in terms of lighting systems.

The Dutch still reign supreme in terms of grow supplies if you ask me. Everything from nutes to lights to media, everything was cheaper there. Homebox tents being the only exception. Even Secret Jardin and other tents were cheaper in the Netherlands.

You can find some better deals on some products in Spain and/or Italy. Some soil amendments and stuff like that can be found cheapest in France.

But I even looked in eastern Europe, for example Poland and as a conclusion or summary it can be said that the Dutch still have the best prices overall.
Although you also have to be careful which shop you use, some are just as expensive as Germany or even the UK.
But others are great and offer great deals.

So from my personal experience I would say:
- German growshops only for Homebox products, maybe a few other articles but I found nothing else that was price-competitive with Dutch growshops
- Spain/Italy for certain articles like cheaper no-name tents, some HPS lights etc. (have to compare)
- France for substrates and amendments
- UK for nothing, honestly, as long as UK is in the EU, anyone there should buy from abroad. They aren't price competitive in any aspect or any article
- Dutch for everything else but make sure you go with one of the good growshops and not a tourist trap in amsterdam central

Think i have used Dutch grow shops only few times.
..usually the best deals for the order that i have been thinking about has been from GErmany. For some reason.
But there are loads of differnet www-shops in Grmany and prices vary quite abit.
..and it's the same with Dutch shops. They're not all that cheap.

Where i live, Dutch shops usually charge more for the shipping and/or have higher price limit for free-shipping.

I'm not claiming you're wrong with the tent prices, but Dutch shops aren't selling BioBizz nutes (brand i use) or light systems any cheaper than GErman shops i've used, cause some how i have usually ended up ordering my stuff from the Gerries and i compare prices (whole of EU) like a looney when i'm placing my order

French shops have quite high shipping costs at least to where i live. Maybe to UK the French shops aren't that costly.

But absolutely check out Dutch shops also, but visit more than one shop. Don't use the first one you find.
..and check the shipping costs before placing an order.

Best deal (including shipping) is what counts.

EDIT:

Good info btw, Biddy.
..too many people seem to be mentioning ebay first, but esp European growers really should surf the EU grow shops for best deals. Cheapest ebay stuff isn't always the best purchase for the price. "Poor people can't afford to buy the cheapest" or something like that.

With the cheap grow tents, even though they are light-proof and seem like good quality at first, you have to look how they are after half a year or maybe a year of use.

A lot of them will develop light-leaks at the zippers for example and stuff like that.

But don't get me wrong:
I am convinced that you can get cheaper no-name tents that perform just as well if not some of them even better than the big name brand stuff.
Just gotta get a bit lucky or test them out (and then share here or elsewhere so others can also benefit from your experience :) ).

Just don't judge them too early. Fresh out of the box, they kind of have to be fine. The difference in quality becomes noticeable after a few months/years of use.

Although I gotta say, if a no-name tent costs half of the name brand and develops a light-leak after a year or two... then I think it's totally worth it.
Because as far as I know (do NOT have actual experience with tents mind you), even the name brands tend to develop light-leaks over the years.

@Goatcheese

I dunno man, might just be product dependent.
But I saved something ridiculous like 300+ bucks for my dimlux 630w CMH fixture by buying in the Netherlands instead of Germoney. Inside the Netherlands there were shops asking for 100-150 more. But the Gerries wanted 300+ more in most places.
So in some instances, we are talking MAJOR savings.
