Any Idea How x_tracted Does It?

Paranoid of California's interpretation of the law, I just don't want to bring heat to myself or others.

If the supplier is reusing tanks, how do you know your getting a representative sample of his bulk butane to get to me for residual testing? If I'm going to do bulk butane testing, the chain of custody needs to show everything was preserved, nothing added.

gotcha, ya cali is sketch about tane

at least in my area, you cant buy the tank, you have to rent it, and then transfer it to your tank with the liquid/ gas ports. and then return the original tank, as its a monthly rental charge. I assume they clean them out, but i have no idea really.

As a connoisseur of cannabis oil living in Seattle, I'd like to chime in with a few thoughts:

From what I know from friends in the industry, the lowdown that PeopleWish provided us with is pretty accurate. However, they are constantly switching things up and upgrading their equipment. That's why you may see different equipment and different processes used on their Instagram. But from what I know, that's pretty up to date information.

Anyway, there are a lot of people in Seattle talking shit on them for using n-propane now because they think that it's 1) to get better residual solvent test results and 2) misleading the consumer.

Well, it's not misleading to the consumer because they DO NOT list 99.8% N-Tane on their packaging anymore. Granted, it is a fairly recent change, but we're still talking about the main reason why some people started to think they were sketchy and they fixed it. Personally, I think it's also entirely possible that they were EXPERIMENTING with with n-tane/n-propane blends before they decided to officially make the switch for all of their runs and change the packaging. It may have been slightly misleading, but I have a hard time believing that it was done maliciously.

And the reason why complaint number 1 is bullshit is because they have exclusively partnered with Steep Hill Halent Labs, who are arguably the world's leader in cannabis testing and analysis. If you don't think Steep Hill tests for just about anything and everything, check out the test results for the most recent Secret Cup in LA and their explanation of the testing process. Now, to be fair, they are not testing in a Steep Hill lab at the moment because the Steep Hill Seattle lab has not been finished. They are, however, testing with NWBA, whom I believe tests in the same manner and has an excellent reputation locally. I have heard that NWBA, due to the manner in which they test, sometimes has slightly high potency results than the other leading analysis company in the city, but we're talking residual solvent and not potency.

To kind of sum it up, the reason why their product is the way it is (and as consist as it is), is because they have EVERYTHING dialed it. Repeatedly upgraded, tweaked, and custom equipment? Check. The extreme attention to detail for every possible variable with the starting material? Check. Literally thousands of detailed and cataloged results (and the process used to achieve said results) for every run they've ever done? Check. There's a reason why certain strains they regularly produce always come out as either a shatter or sugarwax. They know how it turns out best because they've done it so many time.

As for the autobuddering on their shatter (the biggest complaint before the propane rumors started to fly), you can put just as much (if not more) blame on the collectives that improperly store the product. Sometimes that shit is shitting on a shelf under a hot light for two months before it is purchased. And from what I've noticed, they've actually been producing some insanely stable shatter lately in addition to their sugarwax. Far fewer strains are still coming out as that more viscous "shatter" than tends to autobudder over time. Again, I think that can be credited to everything I listed in the previous paragraph.

Lastly, I'm pretty sure the biggest reason they switched to mostly sugarwax results is because the people in charge over at X_tracted personally prefer it. They prefer the combination of high potency and high terpene retention. I think it's harsher on the lungs (and prefer shatter), but I will agree that it has a better terpene profile.

The last thing I'll say is.... everyone these days is an expert, everyone is a chemist, everyone produces the best oil on the planet, and everyone hates on everyone else. Except that's not the case at all... 99.8% of the people that hate on/talk shit on X_Tracted/Refine are extractors for smaller companies that are jealous that they don't have the skills/knowledge/talent to do what X_Tracted does.

We use an ETS just like xtracted, FOA, lunchbox, etc. The prepurge muffin is just hard vacuum while the collection pot is cooling after a hot water circ. The pour prepurge is accomplished one way by heating you hot water circ to 90-100F...The oil will be a VERY low residual solvent syrup that hardens immediately. I don't like the pour because you can get oil all over the pot and spend precious extraction time scraping (potentially causing nucleation). If you look at the care those guys at xtracted take in preparing their material, and teaching growers how to properly process trim for extraction, you can bet that they have selected data points for color and standardized the variables relating to lighter oil.

i remember gray wolf saying how diff solvents pull diff color extracts.. some shit about propane pulling a lighter extract then n butane. stuff along those lines.. and yes.. actuallly seperating trim is a biggggg one in why alot of people dont get that YIELD they think they should be getting.. when 1/5th of your tube consists of fan leaves.. and non trichome producin materials.. instead of getting a nice product u get more waxes lipids and shit from the leaves..

but the main thing ive noticed is.. if u trim.. and right after trimming.. spray butane threw trim that was properly seperated the oils smell is pretttty close to my nug run sprays.

I definitely vibe with the propane 'selective' quality. When you buy an ETS they tell you to use straight propane on trimmy material. It always comes out lighter colored than butane wash, buuuuuut....PHO also has a different flavor profile and consistency. I tried some high quality PHO at Lunchbox Alchemy and it was pretty fire...had a certain sweet funk that existed in several strains. Supposedly the flavor could come from the water solubles that travel with the propane. Consistency wise PHO can be kind of plasticy and doesn't like to shatter up without a little extra effort.

Both praxair and airgas get their solvent mixed by Mesa in texas. All you need to open an account is a business entity(DBA) and some credit they can hit for tank rentals. Applies to CA only)

In regards to cylinder rental, do they offer the service of filling a personal tank? Unfortunately I assume that must be done one your own time once a cylinder has been rented.

I get gas through praxair cuz I have a friend who blows glass and has an account. All 2.5 gas is coming outta Toledo, OH. Praxair is way more chill. They don't fill tanks. it's $15/mo tank rental, I trans my gas right away into my "Y" valve tank, and return right away. The propane tank should have a dip tube. Gas is between $350-400 for a LP-5. I'll looked into the 99.99% n-tane, and it was like 1k ... really looking forward to using propane.

Was wondering if I should rig up a little bigger dryer filter for the propane? Maybe set up one of those mole sieve beads dryer filter like some have suggested in other posts .... keep y'all posted :)

What kind of propane are people using? Id imagine its something more refined since propane is a pretty dirty gas. 1k for ntane 120? We pay about 700 over here

I think some of it has to do with the strains they use. I have two strains that will turn out like this everytime. Many others that are light yellow but two that are stand out bright everytime. Nothing special done on this Slab. Ntane, dewaxed. Strain is a very tightly held OGK, not really my style to name drop things like this cut

And that pic is just regular light in a not very well lit room. Seems like xtracted has tons of overhead light that kinda makes these bright yellow slabs have an extra glow
