It is not so good you'll have to add lots of stuff to grow almost anything in that.

It's JUNK! Just like all the other stuff MG sells. It's the sweepings off the floor of commercial chicken houses after they harvest the chickens.
Make you own soil mix. Check the sticky for beginners.

The MG organics don't seem to be QUITE as bad as the other MG stuff, I've seen good results from it but have no personal experience.

Check out Mr Postman's grow in the journals section, if I remember right he was using a mix based off of MG Organic at one point (Though he's left that behind now) I seem to remember him getting good results from it, though I'm sure it wasn't straight out of the bag.

Exactly. I'd be afraid it would be too hot with raw chicken shit in it. I'd let it compost a few weeks first. Or better yet, forget it and use some of LC's mixes. Mmm Mmm Good!

I figured I might as well point him in the direction of someone who's used the stuff before. He already bought it, after all. Might as well use it... though I would do so sparingly.

I'm not a fan of MG, but if it were completely useless it wouldn't sell. It's just not all that great, you can do MUCH better building your own mixes, using composts, etc... But people can, have and will continue to use the MG products successfully. Everyone's gotta start somewhere, after all.

Mind you, these days I'm working with a modified mix based off of the mixes in the beginner organics thread.

MG=Crap... but weed will grow in crap if you coax it along enough.

A single bag of a very good quality soil can go far in a micro grow, don't go cheap.
FF makes a few nice already enriched soil that will work fine, check out the Moonshine sticky for an out of the bag or close solution, if you want to miz your own like my man B1 suggest check out the Mixes for Beginner sticky.
Soil should be your biggest investment even before genetics or grow equipment, a good soil will make a new grower feel in control as less problems are going to occur.
