.....taking one hit and wait (15 min + or -) for the effects to show up will also help you manage your breathing .....

What happens when you take a toke - you draw in the hit and hold your breath.
What happens when you are anxious - you draw a breath and unconsciously hold your breath or may even start to hyperventilate.
Once the natural rhythm of breathing is disrupted by any means it can set off a chain reaction mimicking anxiety and the fear of an anxiety attack can bring one on all by itself also.
