say my brother writes me a check for $5000 for a christmas present.i stick the check in the family bible and forget about it..later on i get busted for growin maryjane..what,if anything would and or could the cops try and do with that check or the proceeds from it?

if you can prove your brother makes a legit income and prove he gifted it to you you shouldnt have problems...not like having 5k in cash stashed in a bible. asset forfeiture they take shit first and make you prove to them later....
