another bust gets aid from power companies records during investigation

I've never seen the power bill be THE REASON that someone got busted. It's always something else that gets the police's attention. At this point, you're on their radar and it's already too late. Whether or not the subpeona goes through for your electrical records it a moot point. You're fucked.

This is not electric company snitching, this is neighbor snitching. The title seems a little misleading.

Were you there?

Here's the way it probably went down. The neighbor snitched, which gave the law probable cause to get a warrant for the power records.....

I edited your title to fit the story......
A neighbor suspects drug activity and that gets a warrant? I guess it's possible in today's world, but highly unlikely IMO.

It's hot a f*ck here, so high power bills are not uncommon. There are lots of older homes with poor insulation and a window shaker, or large newer homes with pools, etc. High power bills are a given. What gets people busted here is stealing electricity and busybody neighbors, in that order. Or some dumb ass with tinfoil in every window and plants in every room.

Its sooo fuckin easy brother, I really hate parnoia so thats not where im trying to go with this. But a neighbor says something, THEN they see this guy has ridiculous power consumption, most likely with watching his crib and seeing a bit of traffic and whatnot. Its that simple, im a victim. Not being a troll just setting the record straight, dont sell shit out of your house like this idiot from the story.

Cops don't need a "warrant" for power records. A subpoena of records is enough and even then if you look at the privacy policy of most power companies it will say that they turn over records as part of a criminal investigation.

this is how it works:

they need 3 things to get a warrant.

1st. they get a tip from a snitch.

2nd. they go through your trash. if they dont find anything, it is very common for them to plant something. like some stems, ashed out bowls, etc. they take this info combined with the snitches info and it is enough to pull the electric records.

3. they check your bill. if its high, search warrant.

then they report to the media that it was mainly the power bill that tipped them off. remember, their game is perceived fear. so if they put out there that power bills are being watched it keeps area growers paranoid enough to either encourage the stealing of power or just keeping smaller gardens. which is what they want u to think.

Poor guy, NC has the lowest paid teachers in the nation.

Be careful folks. Gladys Kravitz might be your neighbor.

jI bet none of these young people know who that is if they do not google it. lol

She was the nosey neighbor in Bewitched. With her hair in curlers all the time. lol

Somebody dropped dime on him. Same as always. He was sloppy, slinging out of his house to the point the neighbors noticed. Or he pissed of someone who shouldn't have known so much of his business, but did.

I think the cops like to insert stuff about high power bills to scare off would-be growers.

What he said. Cops know as well as you do that the only thing you can't hide is your power bill. So they go at you with the psychology where you're weak.

I think the cops like to insert stuff about selling out of your house to keep would-be growers at ease with their "I'm obviously growing weed" electric rates that make for an extraordinarily easy felony arrest.
