I prefer IronSocket, based in Hong Kong. You may also pay anonymously using a giftcard from walmart, starbucks, etc. or with bitcoins. I wouldn't trust any VPN based in USA but I suppsoe it would be ok if you're not doing anything too bad.

I also wouldn't trust any VPN that says "zero logging". All VPN's log some sort of info but may not log "user activity". Timestamp of the connection to the service, duration of the connection (which is connection to the service), IP address used for the connection (to the service), and bytes transferred (which is via the connection to the service) - can still be logged

I'm having trouble with the second part of these instructions.

-The required Add-ons are now installed and ready. Finalize the installation by configuring VPN for OpenELEC.-

Where it says "Select from the list of VPN providers" I keep getting error message "VPN for OpenELEC error. Check the log for more information."

Anyone run into this problem?

I got errors with that also a while back. If you have a VPN on, it works wherever you go, you don't have to do anything from within Kodi I don't think. If I'm watching something in England for ex. georestricted, I'll just go to my IPvanish app and connect to a London server.:)

Genesis Reborn is working now. There is quite a bit of HD, nice addon. I like the Putlocker links..

If you're noticing more buffering, a DNS Proxy would be faster than a VPN for that because a DNS proxy does not route your connection, there is little to no impact on your connection speed.. IPVanish doesn't come with a free DNS proxy though. Another reason I like IronSocket. Also, I know this isn't a torrent thread but be careful downloading torrents with a VPN that uses USA servers. For example: If you're downloading a torrent from a VPN that uses USA servers, companies like HBO could be monitoring certain files that people are torrenting in real time and send your American VPN company a DMCA notice. And that American company will forward the notice to you and if you continue, they will close your VPN account, even if you paid for a yearly membership. The VPN company I use has USA servers that are fast, but they only allow safe torrenting on select servers that aren't in USA, such as Brazil. Yes it can be slower when torrenting but its a much safer option. So it's really up to you. I use to torrent without a VPN and I've been caught by my local ISP twice and the next time they catch me, they said they will close my account, so that's my main concern right now, preventing my local ISP from seeing what I do. Ipvanish is good enough for that, if that's your main concern but I personally wouldn't pay for a yearly membership with them, even though its cheap, because there is still a possibility they could terminate your account. Another nice feature is to have a "kill switch" on your VPN in case the VPN connection goes out. I believe Ipvanish has that built-in, as long as you enable it, so that's good. That's one thing IronSocket doesn't come with, but you can configure your own kill switch depending on the VPN program you use.

Hmm that's a better price than Ipvanish I believe, which I was close to turning back on..https://ironsocket.com/pricing...great info Watts. I have noticed a difference in having Ipvanish on and off, slows a bit w/ a little more buffering on. I think most do, looks like just $7 to try, might give it a whirl...:tiphat:

Just realized Opera has a free vpn. It's good for browsing, not streaming though, a little too slow. Opera's browser is the best for android boxes imo. I sideloaded with ES file explorer, using the browser within ES under favorites.

Watts, do you have just the dns on with IS, or do you have both the vpn, and dns proxy on, and it's still fast for streaming?

Looks like ufc 210 is on BTsports1 this evening, not Btsports2. I had taken time to put a bunch of BTsports2's in favorites...

Mrs. Merx and I had a Big Little Lies block last night. I was apprehensive thinking it was just another Desperate Housewives, but it was well written with fireworks abundant. A miniseries also so basically a long movie, which is my fav style, like Band of Bros, the Stand etc. Great soundtrack also which is crucial to anything imo.

I'd like to hear any reviews on the Expanse. My experience is most Sci-Fi channel shows have god awful CGI, but it looks like there might be some money behind this one and done well. I watched the trailer and got a bit of a Total Recall feel.

...and in upcoming movie news, if you remember the movie Twins from the 90's....there's a third twin...Eddie Murphy/end nerd speak...

You would use one or the other, not both at the same time. Whenever you're accessing geo-restricted content, it's best to use the DNS proxy for the fastest speeds. IronSocket has two USA DNS Proxy servers, one in California and one in Virginia. You would connect to the one closest to you. You can then access BTsport and all sorts of channels. The reason it is faster is because you are connecting to a proxy in the USA instead of using your VPN to connect to a server in London, for example.

IronSocket is a bit more technical to setup than your average VPN service because it doesn't come with an all-in-one program/dashboard that has all the settings and everything built-in, like with IPVanish; but IronSocket is safer and you have more user-control. With IronSocket you would download and use OpenVPN to connect to the VPN server of your choosing. They list the servers on their website and you download the file from there and import it to OpenVPN.

You can find the instructions for setting up OpenVPN and DNS Proxy for Windows 10 here: https://ironsocket.com/setup/windows-10

Instructions for setting up OpenVPN and DNS Proxy on MAC OSX: https://ironsocket.com/setup/mac-osx

Instructions for setting up OpenVPN and DNS Proxy Android users: https://ironsocket.com/setup/android/openvpn

Instructions for setting up OpenVPN and DNS Proxy on iPad/iPhone/iPod users: https://ironsocket.com/setup/ios

They even have instructions for accessing their DNS Proxy only directly with Smart TV's, Roku, AppleTV, Amazon fire tv, Wii, Xbox, Playstation: (scroll down to bottom left) https://ironsocket.com/setup

If you want to configure your router so that all devices connect to the DNS proxy only, you can find the instructions here (select your router on the right side of screen) https://ironsocket.com/setup

Meraxes, have you tried going to the sports section of the Uk Turks Addon? I can access BTsport and other channels with or without a VPN or Proxy and i'm in the USA. If you can get Ace Stream working, that shit is fast on fight night in my experience.

great posts...I ended up using the Zem addon Saturday night, had better quality Btsports than Sportsdevil, and a few others. Standard, but better. UKturks is one of the best addons for multiple things. Last time I checked, it had 12 different btsports links, he's definately a great dev. I fall asleep to one of his docs just about every evening..

Actually came across a simple, quick, fix buffering solution that's actually worth a damn here ...https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J8YzuSU-naI

It automatically sets cache levels per whatever particular device you are on, as opposed to just having Kodi's default settings the same for every device. Noticeably less buffering afterwards with this solution(live tv, and tv/show/movie streams), and I've tried many. I recommend reading the two info messages before you click, it will explain...

Here's the url for your file manager if anyone wants to try it: http://repo.ares-project.com/magic ...since it's a bit hard to see on his small tv...:tiphat:

Must see dark comedy horror...an absolute riot. I think it's the directorial debut for Jordan Peele(of Key and Peele), knocked it out of the park...https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/get_out/
