An unfortunate mistake

Buddy of mine lives in a pretty upscale town house complex, and he was telling me about this the other day. Apparently they had been having some trouble with illegal dumping in their dumpsters... People were coming from the neighborhood and leaving furniture and all kinds of crap the trash company wouldn't take, so management had enough and put up signs and surveillance cameras.

So weeks later of course along comes two growers dumping their shit ... trash bags fulls of stalks, fans, and root balls, empty nute jugs, used bulbs, all kinds of crap. Only instead of using the trash can, they dumped it all in the recycling bins.

Both their faces, truck, licence plate ... all caught on camera. My buddy said there was 2-3 squad cars and crime lab technicians going through the trash and management turned over the tape. I have a bad feeling these guys are going to get unexpected knock on the door any day now, and where we live the politicians have voted against medical marijuana several times now so getting caught growing is pretty serious. Hopefully, these guys don't have their next round going yet.

No point to this post other than a friendly reminder to keep your game tight.

Peace

Sucks, should have looked for cameras, unless they were hidden inside somewhere.

We in the USA we should always except the fact we are being taped. They have come down greatly in price and many are seeing it helps in court (taped evidence) making trials shorter and in turn saving attorney time.

In my day they would say Big Brother is watching. Now a days imho we should say everybody is watching. Besides even if we don't see it they will soon enough post it on Facebook so it just goes to prove you can't fix stupid.

Seems either inexperience or plain stupidness that would make someone do that.I cant believe anyone that has been in the lifestyle for anytime would do that.Never want anyone to get in trouble for this thing of ours, but that was knuckleheaded.Could have maybe got yer friend in trouble if the cameras didnt catch it.:ying: Keep yer game tight is right, but im pretty sure anyone on here is too smart to do something like that.....i hope, lol.:ying:

What exactly did they do that was so stupid? Other than unfortunately putting the stuff in the wrong cans? Maybe they did not see any signs warning of surveillance or maybe they figured it would blend in with the rest of the footage. You're not supposed to throw your grow trash in your own trash so they were doing the right thing getting rid of it someplace not their grow. They were just unlucky to throw their stuff away in a place with cameras but that doesn't make them stupid.

Stupid would be throwing incriminating evidence in your own trash and not expecting anything to happen

So you all throw your stuff away in your own cans and leave it at the curb? If you don't have a place to make compost and you can't burn what else are you supposed to do? I don't think they did anything wrong other than using the wrong dumpster, they should have looked at where they were throwing first, but I can't blame them for dumping in some dumpster away from their grow. I know that's what I do and I know there's a lot of people who do that

Very questionable wisdom, imho.

Nobody's picking your trash unless you're already suspected and under investigation.

If you're not under investigation, what's more likely to cause you a problem? A bag of grow trash mixed in with all your household garbage, or driving around transporting a bag of grow trash and throwing it in someone else's garbage.

If you are under investigation, how likely is it you're fucked no matter where your trash goes?

And, for that matter, put a cam on the curb side trash with motion detection and just check if anyone pulls it overnight on trash day. If they do, guess what, you just got advanced notice and have time to break down.

Of course, shit could happen. Kids toss the trash on the street as a joke, coons tear it apart, etc. But, then, shit can happen period when you take it to dump it somewhere else too.

Illegal dumping.

Unfortunately, the law says they're already doing something illegal by growing.

Combining that with other illegal activities, i.e. illegal dumping, =stupid.

Word.

Don't break the law while you're breaking the law.

Those idiots sunk their own ship.

Plant material should be thrown in a compost heap, it will be dissolved and unrecognizable in a very short time.

Worm bins take up like a 2x2 space and can be kept on a porch or in the basement.

I use my compost heap for summer spring and fall but want to get a worm bin for the winters when the heap is frozen or snow covered. If for some reason I can't compost it I let all the leaves dry and crush them up and sprinkle them around the yard, or you could flush it down the toilet, sometimes I just powder them and add them to my soil recycling bin.

for grow related items like boxes, bottles and old bulbs I triple black bag that shit and fill the outer bags with dog shit, vacuum bag contents and all sorts of nasty ass shit I can find that would make it seriously unpleasurable to take a look in the bags.

Heh, I'm registered with a Temp agency and on my days off from my regular job they will sometimes call me with one day gigs. I got called last week for a one day gig with the city on a garbage truck. We were doing this subdivision and I was hanging off the back of the truck. The driver would stop at each house and I'd grab the trash and dump it in the back of the truck. At one house I grabbed the bags and one ripped as I was throwing it in the truck. Out tumbles root balls and stems. The smell was pretty obvious.

Some people ain't too bright.

I use my own trash but im not a big op. I grow small # 6 or less. All the large fan leaves get mulched up and the stems get cut into small pieces. When I was in Oregon I did use a dumpster and almost got busted. Someone saw me and called leo. I did not have much I was very lucky when I got out onto the street the cop was pulling into the lot where the dumpster was.

Idiots for many reasons, the most worrying would be that their waste would end up some other growers recycling bin and the pissed off trash man phoned it in to the cops.

Anyone who drives around with bags of leaves, roots and grow related consumables should not be growing full stop....idiots give us all bad name :)

I posted this before but I feel it should be posted again..

As a few people have pointed out any one dumping in dumpsters could be jeopardizing their safety and not know it. Cameras are popular around me as well, businesses want to watch their lots, doors, docks, and dumpsters. Residential apartment complexes use the cameras as a deterrent for vandal, illegal activities, and auto thieves, plus the extra security it's a good selling point for the potential tenants. Security cameras have been gaining in popularity and are pretty much everywhere. Some of them are really high quality and able to provide a clean shot of your license plate or face from a good distance away. Some of them are very small and you would never notice them unless they were pointed out to you.

For me it's not worth the risk dumping anything illegal or grow related in a dumpster, even if you don't see cameras around the dumpster that doesn't mean they aren't there, or that one of the neighboring places doesn't have them.

Thanks
and
Stay Safe
Be smart people it is illegal to dump your trash in someone else's dumpster, not to mention the risk you are taking transporting grow material to dump it. Ever heard of someone getting pulled over for something stupid like a license plate light being out???
