Thanks folks, we actually got a little traffic in! for a while there it looked like a private chat between BC and I, hehe. Anyway- Klaze, the pics of the nugs were taken with just a 2.1 megapixel camera, it has a macro setting but isn't all that great either, as you can see. I have a new 5.1 megapixel cam, I just need to pick up a USB cable for it. The C99 we havested turned out great. At first its an upbeat, jolly high. But after a while it completely sets in and glues you to the couch. Some good shit. I'm really waitin on the Engine #9, its the darker plant in the pics. Anyway, back to work folks!

the grow is looking spectacular mates! It seems that the closeups are a tad blurry, no macro setting? Just curious, kinda wanted to see the girlies up close details, no fun lookin at a nudy magazine if all there is are blurry flesh tone mounds on her chest! lol j/k the pics look good, those plants look damn good enough to smoke I think.
Klaze

My camera has a macro setting, but the magnification isn't great for straight trichrome viewing, but I think its photos are pretty decent.

I hope 3towns other camera will accomplish nice super magnification, and I hope I can borrow it to take pics of my outdoor heheh.

Hey Folks! B.C. and I have decided the time has come. We will be chopping the girls up (hehe, get it) Wednesday. A couple last pics before harvest. I hope Engine #9 turns out to be some killer shit, cuz 5 of the 7 clones we will be putting in next are from that very plant. The other two will be clones of the OR95 and C99xOR95 plants I started a while back. Gonna be nice to start with all clones, they should fill the Beast nicely.

Here is a pic of the clones, all the larger ones are Engine#9s plus one of the small ones, the others are from the new plants.

3town and I had a trimming party! Jager bombs, and lots of bud! Looks like 2.8 Oz total(counting what we smoked the last week). Not bad for our needs.

Can you find the scale? Its under 34 grams of Engine #9-

Our stash jars-

The best close up my 7X zoom will do of the C99-

Time for organic!

Time for organic!

OK, its time to get the 2nd crop in the Beast! And it is also time to switch the OP over to Organics. :yummy:

Here we have my worm bins-

The one on the left is my original, I built it 9 months ago, the one on the right is #2, I will be splitting half the worms into it so I will have two colonies. The bins are Rough tote type containers with a few holes drilled in the bottom. Note the leaves and coarse compost I put in #2, this is bedding for the worms, a new home base to work from, this is usually the first layer, some folks use news paper or peat moss insted. As I slowly fill the bin, I will put in a new bedding layer once in a while, to give the worms a pleasant area to rest.

Some Red worms-

I flipped the bin upside down in a kiddy pool, and used a large platter to sort the castings from the undigested compost and worms.-

The worms and chunks of undigested stuff, were tossed in the new bin, the clean castings were placed in large plastic buckets for storage.

When the pile got down to lots of worms at the bottom of the pile, I split it between the 2 bins. I yielded about 6 gallons of castings from the 18 gallon bin, I would have gotten more if I had been more patient to use better methods of seperating the worms, but thats OK, I'll get the rest next time around.

Next, Coco!-

Here I am starting to soak the brick of Coco in a bucket.

After 20 min, the Coco looked like this-

The little brick blew up to over 2 gallons of media.

OK, here is the soil mix, all in a kiddy pool:

2 Gallons of Perlite-

2 Gallons Coco Coir-

2 Gallons Worm castings-

The new Beast crop in its new home of Organic soil-

These guys will slide right in soon!

There are 4 large(1 gallon) Engine #9 clones, 2 smaller #9 clones, 1 OR95 clone and a C99xOR95 clone. They will be packed in there! But with 100w per square foot I am not too worried. They will go straight bloom.

The intention with the worm castings is that I should not need to fertlize anymore while using this soil. The worm castings are a very mild yet highly potent and complete source of nutrition.

By the way, Engine #9 is some killer shit! :jawdrop:

Howdy Folks! As you all can see, the first crop from Beast Sr. is complete and smoking! It turned out great and exceeded expectations! The next crop should be even better with the Organic soil! :yummy: As for our next wave in JR, here are some new pics taken this morning...

As you can see, the canopy has really filled out. These little guys are really blowin up!

A peak from under the canopy.

Here are the mother plants in the bottom of Jr. They've began to bud, so it looks like we'll turn them into some rubbish buds.

Well Folks, you've seen Sr. from start to finish, its amazing the time B.C. and I spoke of so long ago is upon us. We're rollin now with the 2nd wave of SR. on its way and Jr is doing great. I thikn we're gettin it down, hehe. Anyway, as always we'll keep you all updated on our progressions! Keep it green, cause I KNOW I WILL!

That scrog is stuffed! Oh well, it may be a bit crowded, but that seems to be the way I do it, heheh. I am very optimistic about all the future closet grows, we are getting some good systems down.

Spring is upon us! Soon I will be getting my outdoor thread up and running. It will feature the same clones we are using here. Between all the indoor/outdoor growing, I have to find time to put in a vegtable garden!
Summer is going to be sweet! Endless ammounts of weed, and lots of hiking and fishing, and later maybe some hunting?

Hey 3tOwN and BACKCOUNTRY, great thread, reminds me of OG. You've got some awesome grow boxes there. I particularly liked the little diagram along with the actual photos of your box. Also the carbon filter construction photos were great too.

Was the beast jr constructed using a frame like beast sr? I can't tell from the pictures. Also I'm interested to know how your little experiment with the kitty litter went, is it a good alternative to activated carbon? Oh yah one other question about beast sr, do you have a second fan in the carbon scrubber compartment to exhaust the air?

I'm thinking about building a new stealth grow box really soon. Right now I'm using a couple old speakers I picked up at a second hand shop for cheap. Wish I had a camera to show some pics. Thanks for some ideas.

OP- Beast Jr is nearly a twin of SR, with the exception of plumbing, shevels, and size. The dimensions are the same, except its a little shorter and has half the depth. We dont really know for sure how the kitty litter is working right now. We are having a slight odor problem, but not sure if its the air inlets. The way we did it in JR, we simply drilled 2 approximately 1.5 inch in diameter holes in the back for intake, where in SR we mounted pipes to the inlets that stop air from wafting (SP?) back out. We are going to pull the plants out of JR and put him on the operating table and finish it up. It was kinda slapped together real quick due to time restraints, now we need to fine tune it, FINALLY! hehe. The plants will most likely finish up in BC's mini-greenhouse. As far as the second fan ? for SR, no there is only 1 fan. The design and operation of SR is like clockwork. No smell, no scent, no light. Just dank. On the next run in JR, i'll let you know the outcome of the problem, if its the kitty liter or the air inlets. I am pretty confident its because of the inlets, and not the kitty litter. We'll keep you updated. Take 'er easy!

hey thanks for that great show think i'lll smoke a bowl just to help the celebration along. nice work on the boxes great grow. well anyway

I guess I'm missing something on how the scrubber works. Is there a gap in between the two boxes that the air escapes through? That's the only way I can see that the air is being exhausted out the back. The whole thing looks great, and I'm thinking about copying a large bit of it for my first cabinet.

xero-Yes, there is a 1" gap between the bottom of the filter elements and the top of the cab to allow the warm air to exit.

Hey Backcountry, how have you been? 3town still taking a break? Can't still be bored with growing, it's cooler weather time! Nothing like having a nice bright, glowing box to take away the winter blues or blahs. Once the days hit 12/12, going to work in the dark and coming home in dark and you spend the actual daylight in a building doing work stuff. Sucks! Bright light therapy and smoke therapy work wonders!
