Banning semi's is the proverbial camel's nose in the tent.
Who here thinks the gun control crowd will be happy with just banning semi auto's? Who the hell believes that?

Seems like most who want guns to be illegal want someone else to go about confiscating them. They talk about the police, the military, the National guard. Anyone but themselves.

So cops are going into their communities , people they know and take their guns away? Cops are private gun owners too.
But let's say that the cops do try confiscation.
The popo is already outnumbered. Wont take much to make them run scared.
I hate to say it but all you need to do is threaten their family and they are no longer on the job. They are at home protecting their family with their gun. See how that works?

My state recently banned bump stocks and "trigger cranks".
They were all supposed to be turned in sometime in the last couple months. Possession is now a felony. The deadline has passed.
Guess how many got turned in?

Agenda - You know the anti gun agenda is bullshit because it doesn't add up - even a moron can work out that the ONLY motive a government could ever have to disarm a population is to make it defenceless and completely subject to their dictate, however democratic and "free" its made to appear. Sure, families of gun crime victims will cry for gun control and thats normal - its normal to be irrational when your grieving but criminals won't give up guns if they are illegal - its their job to do illegal stuff. In any other case, a government would see ZERO benefit in disarming the population it serves - that population now need the state to guard and protect the citizens from that tiny minority of criminals. Im not even American but its common enough knowledge that even I know that the states with the least gun control are the polite states where nobody gets mad and the community polices itself - a right and just state of affairs.
Chipping away at full autos or ANYTHING else is the thin end of the wedge and in any case, if a tyrannical government ever needs to be removed, automatic weapons is the very least you would need. To be honest, if an asshole bro into my house with a shotgun, id want a automatic weapon. too right. Im not looking to make it a fair fight. id want to be sure he loses.

but what your describing is more of the country mouse/city mouse dichotomy, and it's an old one
in the cities fire fighters/police and so forth are paid and respected positions(for the most part)
they're jobs with their own risks, but they're a lot of jobs with comparable risks that pay less, such as fast food worker
it's the American system, those with certain job skills aptitudes go to certain jobs
this is a celebrated aspect of America by conservatives in other contexts
in the country it's different, self reliance is how it is, at least more than cities
but it's part of an ancient trend, live in cities - more specialized jobs appear
more wealth, but not for everyone

..only we didn't give up guns Many of us still have them, and I mean legally. How do you think farmers, pest controllers and competitive sports shooters go about their business?? I arrived at 7000 cause that is how many shoes were left at the capital lawn. That was symbolic for all the school shooting deaths since Sandy Hook. I didn't come up with the numbers, just used what was in the news.
