The use of the word "socialist" in the negative text that is typical of the non-thought process, is inversely proportional to the likelihood that the person making the comment has any actual knowledge of what the word means or could tell you anything about why it would bad for you.
A good personal story - probably 6-7 years ago, I was out on a date with a woman who was going into the whole spoon fed manure about "socialism" & "welfare"....
I asked her when she planned on paying back her "socialism" handouts.
Of course, she reacted with " I have NEVER taken any handouts from the government !!"

Ummm Michigan State University is a PUBLIC COLLEGE . Do you understand that your HUGE tuition bills were only about 1/2 of the actual cost of you attending - the TAXPAYERS paid the other 1/2. And if you got your Masters Degree, wow, you really got a huge handout. In fact, with interest, you would owe well over $1,000,000 - this means you have received far, far more WELFARE & SOCIALISM than any of the "welfare queens" you are whining about !!

Many people on here live or have lived or visited other countries. If you are familiar with many other nations, you KNOW how bad public schools can be and how good schools cost $$$, meaning only the wealthy/well off can send their children to a good school = much of the World has this.

Public Universities, funded by the Public.... Americans take it for granted that both options are their right to attend, only grade point average, etc can block you from some.
A good example would be a woman I talked to several years back from Brazil. She tried to get into a university. She grew up in a relatively poor rural household and went to public schools. There was an entrance exam to get into this university- the top 1,500 scores got in. But over 6,000 took the exam ! She scored 1612, which was very good but not good enough.. so over 4,500 people who wanted to attend, could not get in.
There were no "community colleges' to fall back on, the students who went to the better private schools were most of the students who got into the university.

SOCIALISM would be how our politicians get free unlimited life time health & dental benefits !!!

So when you see someone call the Democrats "socialists" , they are talking out their backside and can give you zero specific examples of this mythical "socialism" .
Equally ignorant would be calling people who criticize Trump or do vote GOP, as "liberals"
There is zero "CONSERVATIVE" , the terms are meaningless due to this.

Excluding Sanctuary Cities, Australia has all the things you mentioned and Australia is hardly left wing, progressive. We tend towards the centre and any party that flirts with the extreme isn't going to be in power for long. The only progressive party we have here is the Greens Party and they get about 10% of the primary vote. We do have gun control and it was brought in by the conservative party after the Port Arthur massacre over 20 years ago. Dude, I'd suggest that you're so far to the right that you can't see the forest for the trees.

Sorry, but comparing the Democratic Party to Stalinist Russia, which is what you did, is extreme right wing hyperbole.

I am absolutely eating up the divine irony of this all. You have a group of people who have been for years lauding the great things government can do, and how we should turn more of our tax dollars and freedoms over to it. That we should disarm the people and take a "flexible" stance on our own constitutional rights. Then all of a sudden a pompous asshole of a politician gets into office and suddenly its "resist" and "states rights".

There has never been a better time for the 2 sides to come together. Has it ever been more clear that the power handed to the government is more dangerous than the past 9 years? That each side has their honeymoon with "their guy" and then feels violated by the next.

People. If we can agree on anything, shouldn't it be that the 1% IS our government, and that we should do everything in our power to RESIST that? This thread started out....America...with a video of the homeless in downtown LA. 15 min from where I grew up. Now I'm 90 min away...where the air is clean and I don't have to deal with this utopian wonderland.


The OP video is a direct result of the culture this state created. Shit is getting worse as the homeless rates skyrocket. The city of LA has 58,000 +....think about that...58,000 homeless people. It's an epidemic and the local rags/tv/radio are silent. Over a 40% increase the past couple years.

California was just rated LAST(50th place for all you rocket scientists) in quality of life.

We got kids eating Tide Pods...but yeah...progressivism ROCKS

When I first got to California, back in '78 I was homeless and made friends fast so that I could couch surf for a while.

I got a job in the evenings at 'The Mabuhay Gardens' on Broadway as a doorman, and in the day I pumped a bicycle around and over all the many San Francisco hills for 'Speedy delivery service'....There were no hand-outs in those days, other than some soup kitchen in the Tenderloin, and it wasn't long before I had enough cash to rent a small room in a friends apartment, then worked my way up in the music bizz as a band manager and then club promoter till I could afford to rent my own apartment on Sacramento St, opposite the Fairmont Hotel....eventually.

Seems to me like many of these so-called homeless people are congregating in California because today they can get lots of 'free-stuff' and don't have to work to get by.

We have a similar problem in London and throughout the UK where legions of fake beggars who are actually housed for free already pretend that they are homeless and hang-out in town/city centers with their hands out hastling people for money. Many of them make $200-$300 a day doing this while still claiming 'benefits'.....They have no incentive to actually work, because they make far more money by sponging off the state and the kindness of strangers.

My buddy panhandle's and gets foodstamps and gift cards and at least makes 50 bucks a day.as long as he makes enough for weed,beer and cigs he don't care.but he lives in a cemetery when he's not sleeping at the train station and alcohol is killing him.I don't agree with what he does but he has no quality of life whatsoever.I'm sure he's gonna die soon.if people wanna give him money that's on them.he could stay with me anytime but he needs to hustle.fucking sad
