Am I missing something?

I've been reading a lot of threads on here about power, as I have a power situation in my home, I want to run 2 lights off of one 20 amp circuit, with the fans I'm using, it'll be to much power, however if I just use one ballast at a time, I.E. I'm having one on 12 hours the other on 12 hours, I can use 9.4 amp ballast + fans, instead of 18.8 2 ballasts+ fans. In all the threads I've read no one has mentioned this, it seems so easy, any replies appreciated

What's the point of having two lights if you're only using one? Are you talking about vegging for 24 hours, or separate flower rooms?

It was clear to me. Check out the 'powerbox' (powerboxinc.com), google it. I think you want the "original flipbox". It might not help you, but then again, it might help you a lot.:tiphat:

Ive looked into power relays, which are cool, but I already have 2 ballasts, I dont need an automatic relay I can just set the timers, is this all it takes? Is there some thing where the ballast draws power from the system even when its off (yet plugged in)?

Im no electrican, but i believe. your set up should be fine. It'll be just like running one ballast at 24 hrs. If you can run one ballast for 12 hours, you should be able to run it for 24. It'll just cost more. (I understand your using 2, but only one at a time)

and I do believe most things have a slight power draw, even when off(like cell phone chargers) but it is minimal.

Sorry i cant be more helpful.

You can also veg with the flip flop set up by putting a few cfl's in 1 or both rooms on a second timer to extend the day length, using little additional power. I've done this in a 3x3 with 2-13w cfl's. Good luck. -granger
