How did they get the warrant, that's what I want to know? I wouldn't think the word of your ex-wifes friend is enough, there had to be something more to it.

Public Defenders in Texas are simply lawyers that practice in the county that are assigned to specific cases as a "good will" thing. I got lucky, my PD was a former Federal Prosecutor, knew the judge and DA personally, and got my shit dismissed. Its all about finding the right lawyer, not the right price. Evaluations/Estimates are usually free. Shop around.

I was looking for a lawyer for my arraignment for the smoking in public charge. some said $1k for the arraignment and if it goes to trial, $5k... ridiculous!! this was NO possession, just smoking in public caught w/ half a joint. so for cult i imagine 20k for a lawyer would be the absolute minimum

FYI a Lawyer to deal with charges on a state level costs average 7k, one to deal with Federal level charges 50k to 70k.

Was it dismissed due to the fact they got a warrant based solely on hearsay and that a conviction might likely be appealed and overturned?

The saying goes like this....and its a valuable saying......"Get the best lawyer you CAN'T afford" Shit is true.....get the best, dont let your fate hang in the balance with a public defender.....You can pay payments to a lawyer......do whatever you have to do to be able to pay him enough to lock him in. Look on NORML's website for canna friendly lawyers in YOUR area...dont get some guy thats never worked cases in your area...you want a guy that the judge and DA know and work with.....Good luck man, just dont go to court with a court appointed lawyer.......

You are going to get diversion or probation. Your lawyer needs to get that scale thrown out, hopefully it did not have residue and you did not sell any herb to an undercover. I would find it hard to believe that they obtained a warrant based soley on a heresay tip.

If they have an eye witness who has actually seen your grow and signs a sworn affidavit then this IS grounds for a warrant. Hope you did not have the ex wife over for a bj!

i have looked for this info in many places, have never found a real good answer
i have found little evidence that wet MJ is kept to dry in the police evidence room
it seems to be more of a 25% wet weight, any links on this practice would be appreciated, assuming there are any reliable links

I got busted growing in Ny state around 18 years ago.I had 1 huge mama and 10 clones in 24oz cups and they were awesome.I was given a ticket that said "Unlicensed growing of cannabis and it was a violation.I think you are getting all the extra charges due to having scales.You need to get a lawyer and makes those scales"go away" or the distributing charge will stick.Just my 2 cents.Hope it works out for you Bro-bitches and thier narc shit.I hate it.Peace Bigd

I was busted by the Border patrol in AZ with 2 joints of dirt weed 6 years ago. they were in a plastic bag inside a paper bag full of trash they weighed the whole thing trash and all in the end i had to go to marijuana education counselling try and find that in California. The only mature processed cannabis was in one jar. Not packaged for distribution. Easy personal use argument. The plants were in vegetation. If they dry and weigh the leaves the weight will be reduced significantly. When they dry cannabis to what moisture content is it dried too? There is an argument there. Do you have a medical impairment that the use of cannabis helps you make it through the day without use of prescription drugs that cause addiction or other side effects. I understand there are no med laws in NY but you could get some sentiment from a jury. Good luck

a simple violation is about as low a charge that you could get
sounds pretty close in time to when the MJ decriminalization was introduced

They found an 1/8th of weed in my mahogeny cleaning bowl and a bong and the little bowl I was smoking when the cops ran up my stairs.Got thrown out of court as no search warrent.They just came on this guys word and I told him they were going outside that evening and they were.I was out back bagging them in backpack and fuzz reared thier ugly head.Whilest at kitchen table discussing this with the 1st 2 cops,I get a knock on my livingroom door-great I think,a buddy coming over to do bong hits after work.Nope 2 more cops in fatigues.I told them they were watching too much"Cops",which pissed one of them off cause he tried getting a duck call thrown in as evidence.I picked it up and called and his buddies laughed him out of my house.Im sure he is the one that tore of my glovebox in my truck,and trashed that.Guess what the duck call bum was baliff at court/When I walked out w/my lawyer(whom I used to burn w/as a teenager),I went "Quack.Quack!".My attorney asked me what that was about and told him duckcall story.He said I'd better watch it and to no piss them off and I told him to bag it.I will NOT take getting arrested for pot again sitting down.I mean it.It is nonsense.Lose so much $$ and time over precious medicine is a sin.Peace BigD
