of a program started in 2007 under Bush's administration.

No doubt this was bad policy but also far from approaching

Baby Huey, I suggest you keep reading. From what I have read, the deaths in Mexico that have been linked to these guns exceeds 300 - how many were associated with Watergate? Holder, in his testimony on Thursday, said that we needed more gun laws to more effectively deal with our "shared public safety obligations", totally ignoring that the very people charged with enforcing the existing laws are the ones that broke them to create this fiasco. Hmmmm - what do you suspect the intent of this program was? Do you really think that the cartel's need to buy sporting guns one or two at a time through US dealers, or would it be possible for them to buy true military weapons from the firearms factories in Brazil by the railcar with a tiny portion of the billions of dollars laundered through Wachovia? Jesus, get a grip.

*edit* "Wide Receiver", the Bush administration version, was shut down when they found that they couldn't effectively track the guns. The Mexican government was then warned that some of the guns were coming across the border. The current administration didn't bother with warning them, and did everything that they could to cover up the program's existence.
