Kall: good to see ya' bro. I'm hopefull I can clear my schedule so I can get out there the last week of April. Right now it's like a 60% likelihood that it's gonna happen. I'd like to be more specific than that...but it's a bit rough to make the call at this point. I'll keep you abreast of my travel plans. If not April, well DEFINITELY some other time in the forseeable future. Amsterdam is like a living faery tale to me. I felt such a connection to the place....like a long-lost home. I know that I can't stay away forever. Even my wife who doesn't party fell in love with the place. I was surprised after we came back last time and she said that she wouldn't mind living there. If I could make that happen, I'd do it in a second.

Just outta curiosity: does anyone in the family know of anyone that could set-up a website similar in structure to IC mag? It's become apparent that we don't have alot of privacy here or in the social area, and there are things that I'd like to be able to freely discuss with the F.A.M.I.L.Y. without fear of repercussions or censure.
Imagine having your own private password protected Chat-room, private threads, etc.
BY INVITATION ONLY. We could kick people invites if and when they get to the point they're in...and of course they'd need to be thoroughly vouched for and screened.
This is not necessarily a pipe dream, it's something I've discussed for awhile with Cella and some others......should be rather easy to get server space in a "friendly" country...
and actually I'm not as worried where the server would end up...it would be an 'invite only' private server that the public doesn't have access to.
Then we can get on with the myriad of ideas we've been trying to express in vain.
I used to get the schpeel from my father and mother: "Our house, our rules....", "As long as you live in this house, you're going to live by our rules...". Well, needless to say that didn't sit well with me....and I was an absolute assh*le to them when I was in my pre-teens and teens....I stayed out till like 4am, hung out with 'shady' people and did everythign that would make them horrified as parents. When enough was enough, I split at 17 and lived on my own...supported by my "hobby". Leaving was the only way I could respect their wishes. It worked....and I wouldn't have changed 1 single thing if I had to do it over again.
So, as much a I love IC Mag....I don't like the IC "NAG". Out of respect for the people that work hard on this site, I'm going to honor the TOU...but would like to create greener pastures where the TOU doesn't have to apply to us. Seems fair.
So: Wonder Twin powers activate.....shape of a "NEW SITE".....form of a "PRIVATE PLACE"!

its on GODADDY so pointless I guess? I have like 3 old computers can I make

Was speaking to a friend of mine. He doesn't know exactly how to put together something like this, but was fairly certain it wouldn't be too difficult or costly. Still looking for your two cents peeps...
Foothills: thanks bro. I'll be waiting for any info. you can provide. If it's just a matter of "buying" or "renting" a server then I don't see it being much of a challenge.
By the way: The Canna Cabana, and Breed Bay both have the same "format" as this website practically. I've also seen other "forums" that are dedicated to things like bodybuilding, music and even drag racing that share practically the same template.
I'm assuming that there's some sort of "pre-fabricated" template that can be used in a drag/drop capacity...it should just be able to be loaded onto a server, customized accordingly..etc. Once again, if this is just a matter of throwing money at a problem....it's not more than a speed bump.

I have a buddy who recently set me up a ftp site so i would have a place to dump music, He has his own server and is really experienced with this kind of stuff. He's also cool, so I don't have to worry about any slips of the tongue. As soon as I hear from him I'll hit you up, If anything he can definitely get things moving in the right direction. Did you get my rep comment Access?

Stretchp: I hear ya'. There are a plethora of sites that do allow "Free Speech". None of them allow complete insulation and privacy however. I think this move may be what I'm looking for. There are just some things that you need to discuss from time to time. The phone is kind of bogus...email is o.k., and nobody uses real "mail" anymore.
A place where my friends and family can log in, unmolested and speak their mind is a great idea. And it's a business write-off to boot!
The problem with shifting from one site to another is that not everyone is there...
Some of the fam is at the cabana...I'm at the bay....it's just too damn confusing...and who has the time to visit all that jazz?

Apparently it takes no programming knowledge to set up accounts, threads, etc. Significant knowledge is only necessary when performing serious customization of the site.
Features like "chat" are just free add-ons that are available to all purchasers of the software.
So now I'm off to look for server space. I know from experience that space is not exceptionally expensive either. We're talking extremely minimal start-up costs for some peace and quiet without nuns smacking my knuckles with rulers.
