Hey Everyone.

Just wanted to share a little gem of information with you.

I was recently poking around on www.alibaba.com and came across some EXCELLENT prices on ballasts, bulbs, reflectors, hoods... you name it.

One lady quoted me $94 for a 600w hps/mh digi ballast with wires and socket. All the same equipment you see on ebay. At least the end caps are all the same. Must be where they get them.

yo-yo hangers were 75 cents each.

Homebox grow tents were $270 shipped.

Bulbs for under $15 shipped

Great stuff folks. Litte tough to communicate at first, they are chinese and most speak good english, but some are a little less competent.

Cool setup, it's like a flea market for manufacturers. They post ads and you can browse through and see what they make!

Looks interesting, definitely some good prices. My concern would be if the items are shipped from China or not. That complicates a bunch depending on where you are.

Watch out buying from dealers on Alibaba...

In my experience a lot of the chinese stuff on there can be of dubious quality!! You will also have ne re-course should it break within weeks, also keep in mind spare part availability. They often build units in china with homegrown stuff!

Lastly , you will probably face some sort of import duties/tariffs on the items.

How are you suppose to order off there? Do you have to call the manufacturers, to get a price? I don't see any prices. looks like a good resource, but I'm not seeing how to use it.

Never bought anything from alibaba but usually Chinese take the smae payment methods as everyone else, like direct deposit, western union (seems more common) and paypal. $100 for ballast + bulb fuck the materials are more than that.

Many shops buy their equipment from eks. middlebuyers.....who buys eks. 200 (units) tents in eks. china.....there have been talk about unreliable "manifactures" .....yes

I have found many cheap things through alibaba....among them.....Beautifull Humidor closet (big one) ....buy 200units for 24$ each or sample unit for 50$.....price in stores min. 300$ for one in that size

The bulbs that I bought were shipped from China. All the manufacturers that I contacted were in China and ship from China. They call them samples so that the tarrif is waived for small orders. When I looked into tariffs, it was about 7% if you were charged.

GWGrows - You can contact them via email or phone. Email is the easiet I found. Paid with western union.

696 - The quality looks like it does vary quite a bit. I spent a lot of time going back and forth with a lot of dealers until I found a couple who were very responsive and stuck around. Formed a good relationship with them over a couple of months. Didn't seem like they were trying to screw me and didn't.

The tents were $70, but the shipping was ungoddly. Best to buy those in bulk I'd say. $250 is a hell of deal.

I was involved in importing Soft Serve Ice cream machines from China and the variance in quality was massive.

This would result in a sub standard product aswell as frequent breakdowns. Now in this game ( growing) I dont think you can afford to risk these types of problems.

If you buy local at least you have some sort of warranty and spare parts line.....

The choice is yours just be very careful!!

How are these prices......

FOB(shanghai):

400W:$2.5/pc
1000W:$19/pc

and the according pricelist of the ballasts is the following:

ballasts 400W: $9.19/pc
ballasts 1000W:$20.71/pc

20$ a ballast I think your having a bubble!!! They are very cheap mate but be careful about companies you havent researched properly, a lot of companies on alibaba are scams. Western Union is a dangerous form of payment and many dont take paypal, Ive found cheap items from china but 20$ seems a little suspicious!!

Morning all.

696 - that sounds about right for a core and coil ballast. The digi's I have had quotes for are around $25-$150 each. 150w being the cheapest and the 1000w being the most. FOB means they will package and drop it off for you, but you pay the postage. Most of them deal with OEM type companies who buy a shitload at a time. As for express mail shipping through EMS or TNT. UPS, FedEX, DHL are a complete ripoff. About twice what EMS costs. Their shipping is usually right around $10 / kg for a ballast sized package.

GL - I have been going back and forth with many of the manufacturers over there. Pretty easy to weed out the bad ones. But if you google their company name, you'll see them listed with INT'L trade shows and the like. I was really nervous sending a $40 payment via Western union for the bulbs (WU was $10), but I got my bulbs within a week. If they're willing to go back and forth with you in emails for a couple months and you drive them crazy asking tons of questions, there's a pretty good bet you can trust them. There are scammers, but they'll be gone by the end of a couple weeks and on to the next person willing to send them a few hundred bills off the bat.

NA your absolutely right spaced, if you do your research and stay in constant contact with the company, use your head a little I dont see anything going wrong. How are the bulbs, whats the quality like. Im talking with one company about these SUPERHPS bulbs, used for hortivultural purposes and they look pretty good. Well ill see how things turn out and let you lot know. Good info bro

You folks are all nuts....I'd much rather go out and buy these things my self and leave no sort of paper/ e-trail whatsoever. A few dollars aren't worth peace of mind.

I think people are smokin a heavy section of Sativa in this thread. If there is that kind of comparison then I doubt its even safe to fart.....

I think people hype up the amount of enforcement. Yes , they are on the look out. But if you really think about it , do you think sites like this would even be able to flourish if the government was after each and every grower/smoker!
