Now that is repulsive and rediculously unacceptable to talk to "your" child like that.. We don't know what led up to his obnxious rant... But in my opinion, and I am entitled to one, he's an asshole. I have a daughter and I will never talk to her in that tone.... Screw the money, without a loving family the loot is unenjoyable, once again in my little opinion..... This is what his daughter did to him, except the calling of derogatory names. I don't know if she did that.

I think it depends on how the child acts and how many times she acts like this because if you treat a child at that age, which is 12 years old, like she is still 3 years old and not let her know that certain things give certain reactions, she will grow to be a narcissist due to no one giving her the treatment she deserves and in her mind gives her the impression that she can do and say what she wants with little to no repercussions. As a parent you don't want your child to INVITE trouble into their life and by raising a child to be narcissistic, you are definitely doing that.

This is ESPECIALLY true if she is the child of a famous actor & actress and/or rich family BUT a person can be poor and still be Narcissistic if the people around them give them special privileges that are unwarranted and when they do negative things just get a slap on the risk. That child will grow into a person who doesn't see the world from other people's perspective which will ultimately make them enforce their ways onto others thinking their way is the "right" way even though it will most likely cause more problems for the people who are being enforced upon which means the child will have non stop drama in their life EVERYWHERE they go in the long run due to their character. Peace.

I have a friend whose mother drugged him and dropped him off at the house of a pedophile for drug money when he was 11 years old. Yet, he's raise a daughter whose an incredibly bright well adjusted young woman.

It just kind of puts things into perspective. On one hand its a serious issue or an hardly unforgiveable crime in terms of the terrible things parents do to their kids. On the other hand there are people with much less that have managed to raise their children with a level of love and compassion unfathomable.

ive heard this and it is shitty, but apparently he went through a shitty divorce and lost his kids. he only gets scheduled phone calls at a certain time on a certain day of the week or something. i can understand his bitchyness at his kid although maybe he went a little overboard, im sure his kid is spoiled beyond any of our wildest dreams all because of the money he made

Clearly he was pushed and pushed and pushed, by the little girls mom, through the daughter ignoring Alec, or something along those lines, and the mom was milking it, and waiting and BAM!!! He snapped into one of his rages (not the first time) and now we have it on voicemail all over the airwaves..... So now the mom has some beautiful concrete, substance in front of a judge..........

.....and a side of embarrassment for MR. Baldwin....

This is a beautiful example of why we should keep our words in check, (I'm guilty too) 'cause you have to assume he regrets saying what he did.....

And again, I'll agree---there's no excuse, and never will be.

My parents went through a shitty divorce when I was 10 on account of my dad getting engaged & hiding it for 2 years from my mom while still married & pushing her for another kid. It was an ugly split, but never once did she influence anything regarding my opinions of him. What he did & said over the years lead me to form my own opinions, which in short, aren't too pleasent.
From my own experiance, it's not what Basinger releases (purportedly) to the press, it's what Baldwin has put forth father to child that will be the deal breaker or maker. That kind of hostility isn't going to be easy to mend, if at all. And coming from someone who's heard similar garbage at a similar age, I'd say the stability of the father-daughter relationship's not looking too smooth.
