Bud +, It is better to use a few different males but since you want to use them to pollenate several generations of females, that's a lot more work- you need to keep track of which male pollenated which branch and make sure the generations AND branches are pollenated with the correct males. It's already some work just keeping a male around all the time, if you want to take the extra work of labelling all the branches so you know who's who and make your seeds the right way, all the power to you. I am just keeping one male for my crop to make things simpler now.
if you're going through the trouble of ordering seeds online I would definitely choose regular (not feminized) and focus on making more seeds, to avoid the future hassle.
Also to answer your question MKO, the female mother can be very useful, but some times females that carry superior genetic traits (potency, yield, flavor, etc.) are not easily identified by just flowering the female. You need to pollenate her and grow her babies to really find out what she has. In fact, the best genetics are not coming from the highest yielding, most potent plants- They are coming from plants that are along the "middle of the road" as far as plant features.
This is because the more extreme plant expressions (potency yield etc) are also often more erratic (less reliable) as far as what they pass on in their genetics. This is a more or less basic concept in mendelian inheritance...
Also, Re- Isranabis, that was funny about OGkush not being cannabis LOL, I think i see what you mean that we don't have the parents of these plants, but you should know that it is actually cannabis and we know what landraces they are from, however you are correct their parents have been lost to time so some of the elite cut only plants are not very stabilized
