AGAIN!!! 40-40breaker poping at less then 30 amps!

There is no way the subpanel should be producing so much heat that the breaker will pop. If it is, you have other issues causing the heat. Obviously, the panel is designed to have the cover on.

CDM gave you great advice. Follow it, and you will find your problem.

But really, your wiring job has serious issues. Even if you find this problem, there are more on the way.

Good luck.

I must ask this silly question:
Do any of theses ballast have a selectable input voltage via a switch or jumper? Have you checked emm all?

A Muliti meter will not check amperage.. and a voltage reading is not likely to show you the problem. You really need to do current checks to find this problem.

Dude no disrespect but he needs to first do the work properly, the only reason he would need to put a amp clamp on that shit is if the equipment was shorting, look at those pictures, he dont need a meter, he needs an electrician to do some wiring for him.

If you know the watts and the volts, you know the amps if the equipment is working properly. I highly doubt the problem is the equipment, the problem is DigitalHippy's electrical skills. Look at the photos, if he thinks thats fine and dandy, what the rest of it look like that we aint seeing?

The sub from a sub needs to be stopped, like Frank told him 1,000 times already, he has both of those boxes running off one 60double pole breaker from what I can tell back at the main, not sure why he has another one in SP #1(do you think thats your main for SP#2?), then he needs to go back and fix his Mickey Mouse wiring job.

Ya, I agree its a sloppy wiring job.. a person who knows what he is doing should really set it up from scratch..

DigitalHippy if you want to have 2 sub panels you need a breaker(2 double pulls total) back at the main feeding each box if your system can handle it. Frank has been trying to tell you this for going on 3 weeks now.

What do you think the 60A in Subpanel #1 is doing?

shit, how do thoes asian gangs get away with 70 1K ballasts and a/c to match that shit, even with only 1/2 of them on theyd need a 250 amp+ service... i thought my 100amp was good.....QUOTE]

They steal power is my guess. Or go off the grid with a gen. They also buy homes they dont live in, they dedicate the whole home's electricity system to the grow.QUOTE]

Instead of 12/12 and a flop they use 8on/16off and a triple flop. 3- 20(1k) setups as well as a veg/mother room, ac, and fans. So they only need 200amp in, and all the ones ive seen use the Intermatic t104 timers
